Turbulence effects on chemical reactions in smog chamber flows
Atmospheric Environment (1967), 1987Abstract Turbulent mixing effects on the reaction rate of a non-premixed flow are presented for a moderately slow second-order irreversible chemical reaction. The turbulent mixing process leads to inhomogeneities in the concentration of the reactants.

Fast Reactions in Bubbly Flows: Film Model and Micromixing Effects
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2010In our work, we focus on the Euler-Lagrange strategy to simulate bubbly flows and fast chemical reactions. We propose a film model to account for fast, multistep chemical reactions near the gas liquid interface. A combination of such a film model with Euler-Lagrange simulations for bubbly flows has not been used before. Also, we account for micromixing

Mutual effect of vibrational relaxation and chemical reactions in viscous multitemperature flows
Physical Review E, 2016We study coupling of vibrational relaxation and chemical reactions in nonequilibrium viscous multitemperature flows. A general theoretical model is proposed on the basis of the Chapman-Enskog method modified for strongly nonequilibrium reacting flows; the model differs from models commonly used in computational fluid dynamics since it is able to ...

Chemical Reaction Effects in Maxwell Fluid Flow Over Permeable Surface: Dual Solutions
International Journal of Nonlinear Sciences and Numerical Simulation, 2015AbstractThis communication addresses the chemical reaction effects in two-dimensional boundary layer flow of an upper convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid over a shrinking surface. Mathematical modeling has been performed and the adequate transformations have been utilized for the conversion of partial differential system into coupled nonlinear ordinary ...

Effects of homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions in flow of Powell-Eyring fluid
Journal of Central South University, 2015The steady two-dimensional flow of Powell-Eyring fluid is investigated. The flow is caused by a stretching surface with homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions. The governing nonlinear differential equations are reduced to the ordinary differential equations by similarity transformations.

Effect of laminar chaos on reaction and dispersion in eccentric annular flow
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1996Generalized Taylor dispersion theory is used to study the chaotic laminar transport of a reactive solute between eccentric rotating cylinders in the presence of an inhomogeneous chemical reaction. The circumstance considered is that of laminar axial ‘Poiseuille’ flow in the annular region between the two non-concentric cylinders, accompanied by a ...

Steam flow effects on hydrolysis reaction kinetics in the Cu–Cl cycle
International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2012Abstract In this paper, the effects of an inert carrier gas and steam flow on the reaction kinetics of a CuCl2 hydrolysis reactor are examined for the thermochemical copper-chlorine (Cu–Cl) cycle of hydrogen production. Experimental data from two packed bed reactors, at three separate vapour pressures of H2O in the gaseous input stream, are ...

The jet mixing effect on reaction flow in a bluff-body burner
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1994Abstract This study investigates the mixing effects of primary and secondary jets on flame stability as fuel/air is injected into a bluff-body burner. A two-dimensional spray combustion model, based upon a SIMPLER method, is used for numerical studies of combusting flow.

The effects of reaction delay in the Nagel-Schreckenberg traffic flow model
The European Physical Journal B, 2006This paper studies a new model, which considers the effects of drivers reaction delay in the Nagel-Schreckenberg model. We studied the traffic flow properties in the new model under both periodic and open boundary conditions. The fundamental diagram, spatio-temporal patterns, density-density correlation functions, relaxation time, and distance headway ...
