Flow Toolkit for Measuring Reaction Enthalpy and Application to Highly Exothermic Synthesis of Alkylaluminoxanes

open access: yesOrganic Process Research and Development, 2022
We present a flow strategy to characterize reaction enthalpy and showcase the application in synthesis of alkylaluminoxanes from the fast and exothermic alkylaluminum hydrolysis.

A millifluidic calorimeter with infrared thermography for the measurement of chemical reaction enthalpy and kinetics [PDF]

open access: yesQuantitative InfraRed Thermography Journal, 2008
The aim of this work is to present an infrared calorimeter for the measurement of the kinetics and the enthalpy of high exothermic chemical reactions. The main idea is to use a millifluidic chip where the channel acts as a chemical reactor.

A method for determination of reaction enthalpy of oxygen carriers for chemical looping combustion – Application to ilmenite

open access: yesThermochimica Acta, 2011
Chemical looping combustion (CLC) is a method for combustion with inherent CO(2) separation. In CLC an oxygen carrier supplies the oxygen necessary for fuel conversion.

Enthalpies of activation in solvolysis reactions

Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, 1972
New data for the rate of solvolysis of PhCH2Cl at 0 and 4 °C fit on the same Arrhenius plot as data at higher temperatures contradicting the sharp change in activation parameters reported by Hills and Viana; the solvent isotope effect at 4 °C is normal and changes in the aqueous solvent between 0 and 4 °C produce no marked effect on the reaction rate ...

Partial molar enthalpies and reaction enthalpies from equilibrium molecular dynamics simulation

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2014
We present a new molecular simulation technique for determining partial molar enthalpies in mixtures of gases and liquids from single simulations, without relying on particle insertions, deletions, or identity changes. The method can also be applied to systems with chemical reactions.

Enthalpy of interfacial reactions at TiO2 aqueous interface

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2003
Thermodynamic functions related to reactions associated with formation of charged surface sites at TiO2/electrolyte interfaces have been measured by calorimetry and potentiometry. The calorimetry experiments were interpreted as "symmetrycal calorimetry experiments" yielding the difference in standard enthalpy of deprotonation and protonation of ...

Symmetry‐Enthalpy Correlations in Diels–Alder Reactions

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2012
AbstractWoodward–Hoffmann (WH) rules provide strict symmetry selection rules: when they are obeyed, a reaction proceeds; when they are not obeyed, there is no reaction. However, the voluminous experimental literature provides ample evidence that strict compliance to symmetry requirements is not an obstacle for a concerted reaction to proceed, and ...

Determination of reaction volumes and reaction enthalpies by photoacoustic calorimetry

Chemical Physics Letters, 1996
Abstract The photoinduced reaction of diphenylcyclopropenone (DPCP) has been onvestigated by photoacoustic calorimetry (PAC) in a homologous series of alkenes at constant temperature and in micellar systems at different temperatures. The results remove severe contradictions in the literature and demonstrate that both PAC methods can actually be used ...
