Microstructure and mechanical property of sapphire joints reinforced byAl4B2O9 whiskers

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2021
Bismuth-borate glass, 40Bi2O3–60B2O3 (mol.%), was prepared and acted as a braze to join sapphire in air. Ahead of brazing, basic properties of glass were investigated, including structure and thermal parameters. The thermal expansion test showed that CTE

Evaluation of Bunsen Reaction Kinetics in Iodine-sulfur Thermochemical Process for Hydrogen Production

open access: yesComputational and Experimental Research in Materials and Renewable Energy
There are many thermochemical processes; one of the potential processes is iodine-sulfur (IS) thermochemical process which involves three reaction steps. Bunsen reaction is the first reaction.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Study on the mechanics and self-sensing properties of ultrahigh-performance shotcrete containing waste glass aggregates

open access: yesScientific Reports
To promote the recycling of waste glass and satisfy the demands of environmental sustainability for ultrahigh performance concrete (UHPC), in this study, glass sand was employed to partially or entirely replace machine-made sand, and steel fibres were ...

Porous glass makes effective substrate for ozone-sensing reagent [PDF]

open access: yes, 1965
Porous-glass substrate is used for absorption of a dye used in measuring the concentration of atmospheric ozone at high altitudes. This measurement is based on the chemiluminescence produced in the reaction between ozone and the dye, rhodamine B.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Mutarotational Kinetics and Glass Transition of Lactose

open access: yes, 2006
We report for the first time real time in situ and quantitative measurements of the mutarotation reaction of lactose in the solid state. The experiments have been performed by 13C NMR. We show that mutarotation is initiated on heating the amorphous state,

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.
