Impact of ultrasonic dispersion on the photocatalytic activity of titania aggregates

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2015
The effectiveness of photocatalytic materials increases with the specific surface area, thus nanoscale photocatalyst particles are preferred. However, such nanomaterials are frequently found in an aggregated state, which may reduce the photocatalytic ...

Rate constant calculations on the C++HCl reaction

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 1989
Calculations of the rate constant at several temperatures for the reaction C+(2P)+HCl(X 1∑+) are presented. A quantum mechanical treatment of ion–molecule reactions which combines a rotationally adiabatic capture with a centrifugal sudden approximation is used to obtain rotational state-selective cross sections and rate constants.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Kinetics Analysis for Development of a Rate Constant Estimation Model for Ultrasonic Degradation Reaction in the Presence of Particles

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2019
Degradation of hazardous organic compounds using ultrasound is an attractive advanced oxidation technology for wastewater treatment, and it is well known that the ultrasonic degradation reaction is enhanced by particle addition.

Rate constant calculations on fast diatom–diatom reactions

open access: yesJ. Chem. Soc., Faraday Trans., 1991
A new method for calculating rate constants for fast reactions between two diatomic molecules is presented. The method involves applying a rotationally adiabatic capture theory with a simultaneous treatment of the rotational motions of both molecules. Results from calculations for dipole–dipole (SO + OH) and dipole–quadrupole (CN + O2) interactions are

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Evaluation of Bunsen Reaction Kinetics in Iodine-sulfur Thermochemical Process for Hydrogen Production

open access: yesComputational and Experimental Research in Materials and Renewable Energy
There are many thermochemical processes; one of the potential processes is iodine-sulfur (IS) thermochemical process which involves three reaction steps. Bunsen reaction is the first reaction.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.
