Vulcanization Kinetics of Natural Rubber Based On Free Sulfur Determination

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2013
The determination of free sulfur in the rubber vulcanizates provided significant representation of vulcanization reaction. In this research, the effects of vulcanization temperature, the mixing method of carbon black into rubber, the ingredients mixing ...

Prediction of Rate Constants for Catalytic Reactions with Chemical Accuracy [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2016
Ex machina: A computational method for predicting rate constants for reactions within microporous zeolite catalysts with chemical accuracy has recently been reported. A key feature of this method is a stepwise QM/MM approach that allows accuracy to be achieved while using realistic models with accessible computer resources.

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

The reactions and ashes of thermonuclear explosions on neutron stars

open access: yes, 2004
This paper reports on the detailed rp-process reaction flow on an accreting neutron star and the resulting ashes of a type I X-ray burst. It is obtained by coupling a 298 isotope reaction network to a self-consistent one-dimensional model calculation ...

Reaction rate constant of phosphate esters with hydroxyl radicals investigated using fluorescence probe method

open access: yesFushe yanjiu yu fushe gongyi xuebao
The strong fluorescence of 7-hydroxycoumarin yielded by the reaction of coumarin with hydroxyl radicals (•OH) was used as a fluorescent probe to determine the yield of 7-hydroxycoumarin aqueous solutions with different concentrations of TBP and TiAP ...

Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐

Decision time, slow inhibition, and theta rhythm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, we examine decision making in a spiking neuronal network and show that longer time constants for the inhibitory neurons can decrease the reaction times and produce theta rhythm. We analyze the mechanism and find that the spontaneous firing

Semiclassical reaction rate constant of non-adiabatic system by means of initial value representation

open access: yesAIP Advances
We applied the semiclassical initial value representation (SC-IVR) method with the classical electron analog to deal with electronically non-adiabatic reactive barriers and calculated the thermal reaction rate constant.

Evaluation of Front Morphological Development of Reactive Solute Transport Using Behavior Diagrams

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2009
While flowing through porous medium, ground water flow dissolves minerals thereby in creasing medium porosity and ultimately permeability. Reactive fluid flows preferentially into highly permeable zones, which are therefore dissolved most rapidly ...
