Because reaction time (RT) tasks are generally repetitive and temporally regular, participants may use timing strategies that affect response speed and accuracy. This hypothesis was tested in 3 serial choice RT experiments in which participants were presented with stimuli that sometimes arrived earlier or later than normal.

Abstract Human automotive reaction-time study test measurements were carried out utilizing the facility of the Ontario Science Center, Don Mills, Ontario; Canada. The tests were carried out under simulated vehicle-driving conditions, in a mock-up that incorporated an automotive driver's seat, steering wheel, brake pedal and accelerator, utilizing ...

Five groups of children, including two groups of dyslexics (aged 15 and 11 years), were tested on simple reaction, selective choice reaction, and lexical decision tasks. In simple reactions to a pure tone, the dyslexic children responded as quickly as their chronological age controls and significantly faster than their reading age controls.

Reaction time and spinal excitability in a simple reaction time task
Physiology & Behavior, 1976Abstract H and Tendon reflexes were elicited from subjects at varying intervals after the reaction signal (RS) of a simple reaction time (RT) task when the response involved a rapid plantar flexion of the left foot. It was found that a reflex stimulus presented in close temporal proximity to the RS significantly shortened RT in comparison with the RT

The distribution of visual reaction times made by six normal and six schizophrenic subjects were found to be multi‐modal with peaks in general 0·1 sec. apart. These results are discussed in the light of a cortico‐thalamic reverberatory mechanism whose relevance in the light of other psychological experiments is considered.

An informational approach to reaction times
Bulletin of Mathematical Biology, 1989Simple reaction time is the minimum time required to respond to a signal such as a steady light or tone. Such a reaction time is taken to be the time required for transmission of a fixed quantity of information. delta H, from stimulus to subject. That is, information summation replaces energy summation. This information is calculated from consideration
