Optimal reactive power dispatch with fuzzy variables

1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
The authors present a consistent treatment of the optimal reactive power dispatch problem taking into account the uncertainty associated with load values. Linguistic declarations of loads are translated into possibility distribution functions via fuzzy sets.

Sparse Linear Reactive Power Dispatch

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1985
Abstract This paper presents a Linear Programming (LP) based algorithm to solve reactive power dispatch problems. Linear sensitivities are derived using the reactive power model from the fast decoupled power flow solution method. A suitable criterion is suggested to form a sparse reactive power sensitivity matrix.

Optimal real and reactive power dispatch

Electric Power Systems Research, 1984
Abstract This paper presents a method for optimal real and reactive power dispatch for the economic operation of power systems. As in other methods, the problem is decomposed into a P-optimization module and a Q-optimization module, but in this method both modules use the same generation cost objective function.

A Reactive Power Dispatch Strategy With Loss Minimization for a DFIG-Based Wind Farm

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, 2016
An optimal reactive power dispatch strategy is proposed to minimize the total electrical losses of a Wind Farm (WF), including not only losses in the transmission cables and Wind Turbine (WT) transformers, but also losses inside wind energy generation ...

Security-constrained reactive power dispatch

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1991
A method of solving the preventive security-constrained reactive power VAr dispatch problem is presented. A decomposition-coordination scheme is conceived in order to take advantage of the special structure of the problem. Instead of tearing the network, the problem itself is decomposed into smaller subproblems. Techniques are presented for contingency

Reactive Power Dispatching for Power System Voltage Security

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1983
An optimization-based method is presented for determining the scheduling of reactive equipment (capacitors for example) on an hourly basis for maximum steady-state power system security during normal and post-contingency conditions. The method simultaneously deals with the effects of a number of contingencies, and includes all bus voltages as ...

A Preventive Strategy Method for Voltage and Reactive Power Dispatch

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1985
A preventive control program for voltage and reactive power dispatch is developed to enhance a system's capability to cope with outages. In this program, not only the base case but also associated contingency cases have been considered. Therefore, it is referred to as the Global VAR Dispatch Method.

Differential evolution approach for optimal reactive power dispatch

Applied Soft Computing, 2008
Differential evolution based optimal reactive power dispatch for real power loss minimization in power system is presented in this paper. The proposed methodology determines control variable settings such as generator terminal voltages, tap positions and the number of shunts to be switched, for real power loss minimization in the transmission system ...

Application of evolutionary programming to optimal reactive power dispatch

Proceedings of the First IEEE Conference on Evolutionary Computation. IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence, 2002
This paper is concerned with application of evolutionary programming to optimal reactive power dispatch and voltage control of power systems. Several techniques have been developed to make the EP suitable to the practical optimal problems of large scale systems.

OPF computer program for reactive power dispatch

2012 10th International Power & Energy Conference (IPEC), 2012
In this paper the problem of reactive power dispatching in electrical power systems is studied. The problem is treated through optimal power flows (OPF) using an objective function that minimizes real power losses in transmission lines. A computer program that solves OPF was written in Matlab/Octave using the Newton-Raphson method (NR) and quadratic ...
