Transport Control in a Microwave Plasma Reactor to Enhance Ethylene Selectivity in Methane Coupling

open access: yesPlasma Processes and Polymers, Volume 23, Issue 8, August 2026.
In line with the electrification of chemical process, we propose a circular and low‐carbon C2H4 manufacturing using plasma chemistry in order to keep C in the manufacturing loop and produce an important building block (C2H4) with low carbon footprint (no direct CO2).

Efficacy and Efficiency of an Atmospheric Pressure Dielectric Barrier Discharge Reactor (GAPS) for Air Disinfection

open access: yesPlasma Processes and Polymers, Volume 23, Issue 8, August 2026.
A Grid‐like Air Plasma Sanitiser has been tested for the inactivation of airborne pathogens. This reactor demonstrates a 4.5 and 2.5‐log reduction in aerosolized E. coli and SARS‐CoV‐2, respectively. This device shows an energy efficiency per order index, 2 orders of magnitude lower than values reported for comparable plasma‐based systems.

Recycling of Mill Scale Into High‐Purity Iron Through Hydrogen‐Based Reduction

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 8, Page 4162-4175, August 2026.
Mill scale, an iron oxide–rich steel by‐product, is difficult to recycle due to impurities. This study evaluates hydrogen‐based direct reduction and hydrogen plasma smelting reduction as low‐carbon recycling routes. Impurity segregation limits reduction kinetics. Direct reduction achieves 92% conversion in 180 min, while plasma reduction reaches 91% in

From Community‐Based to State Management: Evaluating Ghana's Small‐Town and Rural Water Governance Reform

open access: yesWorld Water Policy, Volume 12, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT In Ghana, the government has initiated a reform in rural water management to shift away from community‐based management (CBM) to state management, but research assessing the reform is still insufficient. This study aims to critically evaluate the impact of the reform in addressing rural water challenges.

Between‐species contagion drives HPAI transmission and mass mortality in seabirds

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 8, Page 1488-1503, August 2026.
Modelling the unprecedented avian panzootic caused by High‐Pathogenicity Avian Influenza (HPAI) across the Northeast Atlantic gannet breeding metapopulation, we estimated 28% (95% CI: 21%–34%) HPAI‐related mortality. Large‐scale outbreak initiation was best explained by external infection sources, most likely, other seabird species.
