A Multi-Variable Coupled Control Strategy Based on a Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient Reinforcement Learning Algorithm for a Small Pressurized Water Reactor

open access: yesEnergies
The reactor system has multivariate, nonlinear, and strongly coupled dynamic characteristics, which puts high demands on the robustness, real-time demand, and accuracy of the control strategy.

Energy Band Alignment and Electro‐Optical Behavior of Nearly Unstrained Monolayer MoS2 Heterostructures With GaN

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Large size (∼100 µm) monolayer MoS2 grown by LPI‐CVD on n‐GaN exhibit a high n‐type doping, very low strain, and a type‐I band alignment at MoS2/GaN interface. Photocurrent measurements under illumination with photon energies from ∼2 to ∼5 eV show superior electro‐optical performances of these MoS2/n‐GaN heterojunctions as compared to Ni/n‐GaN devices ...

Deep learning-based FPGA steady-state temperature field reconstruction for nuclear safety level I&C systems

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
Obtaining the steady-state temperature distribution on the field programmable gate array (FPGA) chip is the basis for establishing an effective thermal monitoring mechanism to ensure the reliable operation of the nuclear safety level instrumentation and ...

Influence of Carbon Nanoparticles on Electrically Induced Wear of Grease‐Lubricated Steels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
When an electric current enters a pair of rubbing surfaces, enormous damage takes place. In this research, how such damage occurs in the presence of protective grease and the mitigation with added carbon nanoparticles, were investigated. It was discovered that those particles regulate transport and interfacial electrical stability of the grease ...

Study of Gas Amplification Impact on Plateau Curve Characteristics in Boron-Coated Proportional Counters

open access: yesEnergies
The characteristics of the plateau curve, specifically its length and slope, in boron-coated proportional counters are key performance indicators that impact the detector’s overall performance.

Band Alignment and Composition of the Buried TiO2/GaInP Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Buried TiO2$\text{TiO}_2$/GaInP interfaces formed by mild plasma‐enhanced ALD are shown to be largely insensitive to the initial GaInP surface condition. Angle‐dependent photoelectron spectroscopy reveals similar interfacial chemistry and band alignment for phosphorus‐rich and naturally oxidized surfaces, demonstrating a robust pathway for reproducible

Additive‐Manufactured, Multifunctional Bioreactor Technology for Dynamic Culture of 3D Bioprinted Tissue Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We introduce an additively manufactured bioreactor with a perfusion flow system and integrated temperature and pH sensors for skeletal muscle tissue biofabrication. The bioreactor's performance was evaluated by assessing the viability, spreading of the myoblast cells in a printed scaffold, and contraction of the isolated murine musculi interossei ...

Investigation of Turbulence and Turbulent Prandtl Number Models for He-Xe Thermal Hydraulics in Quasi-Triangular Channel

open access: yesEnergies
Compact nuclear reactor systems usually use helium–xenon (He-Xe) mixtures as coolants. Tight-lattice rod-bundled channels, serving as primary core configurations in compact nuclear reactor designs, exhibit quasi-triangular cross-sections where fluid ...

Morphology‐Driven Electromechanical Performance of Graphene‐Based Electrofluids for Emerging Soft Electronic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Here, two types of electronic components are presented: a strain sensor and a stable resistor. Electrofluids properties are tuned to match these behaviors by selecting the type of filler. We show that the morphology of the filler together with its oxygen content are the key parameters to create electrical and mechanical networks with distinct responses.
