The reactor physics of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology reactor redesign

1970
An H20 cooled compact MITR-II core, reflected by D20 has been designed for the MITR to increase the reflector thermal neutron flux at tips of beam ports by a factor of 3 or better, without changing the operating power level of the reactor. The diffusion approximation to the neutron transport equation has been used.

The significance of wetting in reactor technology

Journal of Nuclear Energy (1954), 1955
Abstract The fundamental forces responsible for the spreading of a liquid metal on a solid (or a liquid) surface are discussed, and a number of interfacial tension and spreading studies are analyzed in terms of the theoretical considerations. In the light of these, methods of modifying the interfacial tension in any given application are suggested ...

Technology of Fast Breeder Reactors

1982
Unlike light-water reactors (LWR’s), heavy-water reactors (HWR’s) and high-temperature gas cooled reactors (HTGR’s), breeder reactors with a fast neutron spectrum (fast breeder reactors, FBR’s) have compositions of materials in their reactor cores and breeding blankets which do not greatly slow down neutrons after collisions with atomic nuclei.
