Synthesis of Polyols for Expanded Rigid Polyurethanes by Microwave Liquefaction of Kraft Lignin With Bio‐Based Solvents

This study produced bio‐based polyols from lignin using microwave liquefaction with bio‐derived solvents. The process was optimized by adjusting solvent composition and catalyst type to obtain high yields and a suitable hydroxyl number. Foams made from lignin‐based polyols showed comparable properties to commercial products.

Kinetics of ε‐Caprolactone Ring Opening Polymerization: Experimental and Modeling Study

We present a multi‐scale model for the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone to polycaprolactone (PCL), approximating final melt properties. We conducted batch experiments at various temperatures and reactant ratios. Using this data, we determined the kinetic parameters.

Rapid Decoupled Electrochemical Reduction of CO2 to Syngas

Using a gold‐carbon catalyst and chelated‐chromium redox mediator, electrochemically decoupled reduction of CO2 to CO was achieved. A range of H2‐CO ratios were obtained by altering the amount of poly vinyl alcohol capping agent added during catalyst synthesis.
