Abstract In this paper, we review lightsheet (selective plane illumination) microscopy for mouse developmental biologists. There are different means of forming the illumination sheet, and we discuss these. We explain how we introduced the lightsheet microscope economically into our core facility and present our results on fixed and living samples.

Genome‐Wide Identification and Analysis of the Chicken Basic Helix‐Loop‐Helix Factors
Members of the basic helix‐loop‐helix (bHLH) family of transcription factors play important roles in a wide range of developmental processes. In this study, we conducted a genome‐wide survey using the chicken (Gallus gallus) genomic database, and identified 104 bHLH sequences belonging to 42 gene families in an effort to characterize the chicken bHLH ...

Abstracts of Papers Presented at the 2005 Pittsburgh Conference
To attend or not to attend, that is the question. The Pittsburgh Conference continues to pose this conundrum to conferees and exhibitors alike. This year′s conference was the first to be presented without a set of paper abstracts—a good thing some would say but this old codger always used the paper abstracts to select papers of interest to our ...

Abstract Reproducibility challenges in bioimage analysis are common. The proliferation of tools and workflows creates a complex ecosystem that is difficult to reproduce without deliberate, explicit reporting and support. We assess the reproducibility of Gehrels et al.(2023) as a representative bioimage analysis workflow.

Prior to inoculation of soybeans, South African soils contain no Bradyhizobia that nodulate and fix nitrogen in soybeans. Soybean cultivation with prolonged inoculation resulted in the establishment and dominance of Bradyrhizobia in three soybean farms in South Africa as revealed by a microbial community study using shotgun metagenomics. ABSTRACT Prior

The study aims to mitigate these risks through the implementation of a structured RCM policy. The findings indicate that the machines in the spinning section are the most critical in terms of their failure impact. Implementing the RCM methodology demonstrates significant economic benefits by reducing risk through a targeted FMEA approach.

Fast Tissue Clearing and Volume Imaging Techniques for Anatomy
Tissue clearing and volume imaging techniques have revolutionized our ability to visualize large biological samples, but they face obstacles related to speed, tissue preservation, complexity, and the need for fluorescence labels that make them difficult to implement in anatomy and preclinical research.

Abstract In this study, two truss models are developed for the inclusion of steel fibers: a simplified rotating angle softened truss model and a space truss model. These models incorporate fiber contributions through a rational approach, calculating the compression strut angle using a space truss analogy and using the variable engagement model for ...

Abstract Earthquakes, fire, and floods often cause structural collapses of buildings. However, the inspection of such damaged buildings poses a high risk for emergency forces or is even impossible. We present three recently selected missions of the Robotics Task Force of the German Rescue Robotics Center (DRZ), where both ground and aerial robots were ...
