Real-time Coherence Holography

open access: yesOptics Express, 2009
Coherence holography capable of real-time recording and reconstruction is proposed and experimentally demonstrated with a generic Leith-type coherence hologram. The coherence hologram is optically generated in real-time using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and reconstructed using a Sagnac radial shearing interferometer.

Real-Time Hand Shape Classification

open access: yes, 2014
The problem of hand shape classification is challenging since a hand is characterized by a large number of degrees of freedom. Numerous shape descriptors have been proposed and applied over the years to estimate and classify hand poses in reasonable time.

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

Correcting for day of the week and public holiday effects: improving a national daily syndromic surveillance service for detecting public health threats

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2017
Background As service provision and patient behaviour varies by day, healthcare data used for public health surveillance can exhibit large day of the week effects. These regular effects are further complicated by the impact of public holidays.

Real time reflectometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
A real time reflectometer with the particular utility of measuring fairly rapid (transient) changes in the specular reflectance of a sample which is continuously exposed to a perturbing environment is described. A fixed radiation source, a fixed detector,

Psychosocial Outcomes in Patients With Endocrine Tumor Syndromes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The combination of disease manifestations, the familial burden, and varying penetrance of endocrine tumor syndromes (ETSs) is unique. This review aimed to portray and summarize available data on psychosocial outcomes in patients with ETSs and explore gaps and opportunities for future research and care.

Real-Time Action

open access: yesDAIMI Report Series, 1991
The behaviour of a real-time system depends on the scheduler used. The order in which tasks are executed depends on its characteristics such as ready time, deadline etc. We describe a language in which the readiness and deadlines can be specified. A scheduling policy using the task characteristics can be defined.

Sparsing in Real Time Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Modelling of mechatronical systems often leads to large DAEs with stiff components. In real time simulation neither implicit nor explicit methods can cope with such systems in an efficient way: explicit methods have to employ too small steps and implicit
