ABSTRACT Background Shwachman–Diamond syndrome (SDS) is a rare autosomal recessive ribosomopathy characterized by bone marrow failure and multisystem involvement, with emerging evidence of associated neurocognitive impairment. Methods We conducted a retrospective study of 240 individuals with biallelic Shwachman–Bodian–Diamond syndrome (SBDS) mutations

ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

A novel human-carrying quadruped walking robot
This article adopts a 2-UPS+UP (U, P, and S are universal joint, the prismatic joint, and sphere joint, respectively) parallel mechanism as the leg mechanism of the quadruped walking robot based on the bionic concept and the motion capacity of the leg ...

ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

µRT: A lightweight real-time middleware with integrated validation of timing constraints
Middlewares are standard tools for modern software development in many areas, especially in robotics. Although such have become common for high-level applications, there is little support for real-time systems and low-level control.

On real-time and non real-time distributed computing
In this paper, taking an algorithmic viewpoint, we explore the differences existing between the class of non real-time computing problems (ℵℜ) versus the class of real-time computing problems (ℜ). We show how a problem in class ℜ can be transformed into its counterpart in class ℵℜ. Claims of real-time behavior made for solutions to problems in class ℵℜ

Multi-Exposure HDR Imaging: A Review of Pixel-Level and Feature-Level Reconstruction Methods
Multi-exposure is an efficient way to capture real-world high-dynamic-range (HDR) scenes. However, HDR imaging suffers from severe ghosting artifacts in dynamic scenes due to the temporal gap between sequential exposures.
