PCGen: A Fully Parallelizable Point Cloud Generative Model

open access: yesSensors
Generative models have the potential to revolutionize 3D extended reality. A primary obstacle is that augmented and virtual reality need real-time computing.

Human-Error Prevention for Autonomous Edge Software Using Minimalistic Modern C++

open access: yesBig Data and Cognitive Computing, 2019
In science and engineering using edge-embedded software, it is necessary to demonstrate the validity of results; therefore, the software responsible for operating an edge system is required to guarantee its own validity.

Asynchrony and real-time dependable computing

open access: yesProceedings of the Eighth International Workshop on Object-Oriented Real-Time Dependable Systems, 2003. (WORDS 2003)., 2003
We examine how computer system problems can be derived from real application problems, with a particular focus on the relevance of some assumptions, especially those related to computational models. Then, we compare these models, ranging from pure synchronous to pure asynchronous semantics, to conclude that synchrony does not necessarily dominate ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Efficient and explainable MRI brain tumor classification via Adaptive GAN-based data augmentation

open access: yesArray
Accurate brain tumor diagnosis from MRI is critical, but state-of-the-art deep learning (DL) models are computationally expensive and require large datasets, limiting clinical deployment.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

A lightweight method for computing ball spin in real time

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2007
The present paper poses a new method for computing the rotation of a ball in sport training situations, when the ball is approaching the goal line. The proposed method significantly reduces the hardware requirements associated to the capture, as well as ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
