Inventory of natural processes with nautical charts, real-time kinematic global navigation satellite systems (RTK-GNSS), and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), Trindade Island, Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Geology, 2022
Abstract The volcanic Trindade Island is a remote Brazilian offshore territory in the South Atlantic, located ca. 1.140 kilometers east of the southeast coast of Brazil. The island’s permanent exposure to geological hazards requires assessment. However, the lack of erosion and landslides temporal data impedes predictive geohazard analyses.

Internal Structure, Kinematics, and Prehistory of Frozen Debris Lobe‐A (FDL‐A), Brooks Range, Alaska

open access: yesPermafrost and Periglacial Processes, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Frozen Debris Lobe‐A (FDL‐A)—one of hundreds of FDLs in the Brooks Range of northern Alaska—is a slow‐moving landslide in permafrost that has been the subject of research since 2008 due to its close proximity to the Dalton Highway. Here, we synthesize more than a decade's worth of climate and surface measurements of monitored FDLs, and the ...

Consistency Analysis of RTK and Non-RTK UAV DSMs in Vegetated Areas

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2023
Lately, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) evolve into one of the most popular remote sensing technologies by providing rapid and periodical acquisition of high-resolution, accurate, and low-cost aerial data. Progressively, the technology of UAVs rises with

Research of real-time kinematic satellite positioning technology (RTK) for monitoring landslide deformations

open access: yesSustainable Development of Mountain Territories
Introduction. The article deals with the issues of geodetic control of displacements of the observation station’s working benchmarks on landslide slopes. The authors assume that by using Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) satellite positioning technology to determine the displacements of the observation station’s working benchmarks fixed in the landslide body ...

Automated Lawn Maintenance: An Agronomic and Operational Review of Turf Health, Biodiversity, and Field Performance

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Grass mowing is one of the most resource‐consuming activities in green maintenance, whether in private areas such as home gardens or in public spaces like urban parks. In recent years, concerns related to climate change, human health, and sustainability have become increasingly prominent in green maintenance, leading manufacturers and industry

A reference station-based GNSS computing mode to support unified precise point positioning and real-time kinematic services [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Currently, the GNSS computing modes are of two classes: network-based data processing and user receiver-based processing. A GNSS reference receiver station essentially contributes raw measurement data in either the RINEX file format or as real-time data ...

Hydrographic survey of a south Florida canal using a hydrolite

open access: yesJournal of Geodetic Science, 2017
In this study, a hydrographic map of a South Florida canal is prepared using RTK GPS (Real Time Kinematic Global Positioning System) measurements combined with a hydrolite (single beam echo sounder).

Linear System Identification and Control of a Low‐Cost High‐Performance Omnidirectional Marine Surface Vehicle for Swarming Applications

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Marine operations traditionally rely on human intervention, a costly and disruptive method. Autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) offer a powerful alternative, capable of operating autonomously, for extended periods, and with various sensors for various missions.
