Defining the Term "Argument"

open access: yesInformal Logic, 1993
Informal logic has expanded the concept of an 'argument' beyond that presented traditionally by formal logicians-to include arguments as encountered in 'real-life'.

Parallel Generalized Real Symmetric-Definite Eigenvalue Problem

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, 2020
A computationally fast Fortran 90+ quadruple precision portable parallel GRSDEP (generalized real symmetric-definite eigenvalue problem) package suitable for large (80,000 x 80,000 or greater) dense matrices is discussed in this paper.

Semi-Definite Programming for Real Root Finding

open access: yesIEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences, 2010
In this Letter, we explore semi-definite relaxation (SDR) program for finding the real roots of a real polynomial. By utilizing the square of the polynomial, the problem is approximated using the convex optimization framework and a real root is estimated from the corresponding minimum point.

ASSIST: Refinement of a Benefits Navigator Intervention Among Low‐Income Pediatric Oncology Families

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Children with cancer living in poverty experience worse survival and quality of life. Interventions connecting low‐income families to benefits (e.g., Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [SNAP] improve health outcomes; yet nearly 50% of SNAP‐eligible pediatric oncology families are unenrolled.

Bridging the Gap in Neuroblastoma Care: Consensus‐Based Statements With Recommendations for Improved Patient and Caregiver Experiences

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuroblastoma's complex, heterogeneous biology poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, often requiring caregivers to absorb complex information and participate in time‐sensitive decisions. However, caregivers often feel unprepared to evaluate options.

Powers of Matrices with Positive Definite Real Part [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1975
For n by n complex matrices A the following two facts are proven by elementary techniques: 1. If An is never normal, m c1+, then the equation xAmx = 0 has a solution 0 / x E cn, m EIl; 2. If H(A) = (A + A*)/2 is positive definite, then H(Am) is positive definite for all m c1+ if and only if A is Hermitian.

Admixture Mapping Reveals Candidate Regions for Methotrexate Neurotoxicity Susceptibility: A Reducing Disparities in Acute Leukemia Consortium Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurotoxicity is a rare, often dose‐limiting adverse effect of methotrexate (MTX) therapy that disproportionally affects Latino children. Factors contributing to the observed disparity are not well understood. This study leveraged admixture mapping to identify genetic regions associated with MTX‐related neurotoxicity susceptibility ...
