Determinants of the euro real effective exchange rate: a BEER/PEER approach [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents an empirical analysis of the medium-term determinants of the euro effective exchange rate. The empirical analysis builds on synthetic quarterly data from 1975 to 1998, and derives a Behavioural Equilibrium Exchange Rate (BEER) and a ...

Raman Spectroscopic Identification of Oxide Phases in a Corroded MgO–Steel Composite Anode Used in Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐Raman spectroscopy is applied to characterize corrosion products in a recycled‐based MgO–316L steel composite anode after molten salt electrolysis. A depth‐dependent Fe–O/Fe–Al–O layer sequence of magnetite, hercynite, and an Al‐doped magnetite transition zone is identified.

Characterization of Macro/Microstructure and Corrosion Resistance of Austenitic Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Cladding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cladding is a proven method that boosts the surface qualities of mechanical parts by applying a layer of more durable material over a base substrate. This work responds to the needs of offshore and pressure vessels sectors by focusing on cladding a super austenitic steel onto low‐carbon steel through gas tungsten arc welding.

Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

Modeling and Forecasting the Real Effective Exchange Rate in Morocco: A Comparative Analysis by ARIMA, Random Forest and the Dynamic Factor Model

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
This paper presents a comparative empirical analysis of three modeling approaches applied to the forecasting of Morocco’s Real Effective Exchange Rate (REER): the ARIMA model, the Random Forest algorithm, and the Dynamic Factor Model (DFM).

Exchange Rate Regime Choices and Real Effective Exchange Rate Misalignments: Degree and Persistence

open access: yes
Abstract This paper assesses the impact of de facto exchange rate regime (ERR) choices on the magnitude and the persistence of multilateral price levels-based (also known as real effective exchange rate, REER) misalignments in a large sample of countries (126) over the period 1990–2019.
