The real effective exchange rate and deforestation [PDF]
Based on an annual sample of 122 countries over the 1963-1994 period, this paper shows that real exchange rate depreciation reduces deforestation in relatively developed countries (with GDP per capita greater than $900) whereas it has the opposite effect in poor countries. A possible explanation for this result lies in the hypothesis that variations in

Real effective exchange rate misalignment in Nigeria [PDF]
The study analyzed the relationship between relevant macroeconomic variables and the real effective exchange rate (REER) in Nigeria based on the Behavioural Equilibrium Exchange Rate (BEER) approach. Tax Effects on the Real Exchange Rate [PDF]
AbstractThis study examines the impact of taxes on the real exchange rate through their marginal effects on economic activity. We hypothesize that an increase in the capital interest tax rate leads to real domestic currency depreciation while an increase in wage or consumption tax rates leads to a real domestic currency appreciation.

Effective Real Exchange Rates and Irrelevant Nominal Exchange-rate Regimes [PDF]
We examine the relationship between the short-term volatility of the effective Real Exchange Rate (RER) and the degree of flexibility of the nominal exchange rate. Existing evidence demonstrates that the short-term variance of bilateral RERs is on average about 12 times higher under floating nominal exchange rate regimes than under fixed regimes.

Real exchange rate effects of monetary shocks under fixed and flexible exchange rates
Journal of International Economics, 1990Abstract We analyze how the real exchange rate effects of monetary and real shocks depend on the exchange rate regime within a two-country rational expectations model with confusion about money and real shocks. The model demonstrates that the real exchange rate effect of unanticipated monetary shocks is negatively related to the variance of the ...
