Determining Real Exchange Rates [PDF]

open access: yesThe Pakistan Development Review, 1995
The paper re-examines the determinants of the real exchange rate equation, and suggests alternative determinants where appropriate, as well as improvements in proxies from those conventionally used. The paper emphasises the weaknesses of the multicountry approach to empirical study of the real exchange rate.

Real exchange rates and real interest rates : a nonlinear perspective [PDF]

open access: yesRecherches économiques de Louvain, 2006
SummaryIn this paper we use a Threshold AutoRegressive (TAR) model to capture the nonlinear dynamics of monthly real effective exchange rate data for the G7 countries. The novelty of our approach relates to the use of the real interest differential as the switching variable. This choice allows us to consider jointly the nonlinearity and nonstationarity

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Tanzania's Equilibrium Real Exchange Rate

open access: yesIMF Working Papers, 2008
Tanzania's real effective exchange rate (REER) has depreciated sharply since end-2000, reversing the appreciation that took place in the second half of the 1990s. Single-country and panel data estimates, and the external sustainability approach, suggest that Tanzania's REER is currently modestly undervalued relative to its estimated equilibrium level ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Movement of the real effective exchange rate of the convertible mark [PDF]

open access: yesBankarstvo
In the research, we evaluated the equilibrium real effective exchange rate of the convertible mark and identified a significant deviation of the real effective exchange rate of the convertible mark concerning the equilibrium level, especially during the ...

Long Memory and Parity Reversion in Real Exchange Rate

open access: yesMalaysian Management Journal, 2020
This paper examines the post Bretton Woods experience of the Malaysian Ringgit. In this period, Malaysia moved from a managed to a floating exchange rate environment. We examine persistence in real exchange rates by estimating fractionally integrated ...

Determinants of the Real Equilibrium Exchange Rate in Albania: An Estimation Based on the Co-integration Approach [PDF]

open access: yesACRN Journal of Finance and Risk Perspectives, 2019
Problem/Relevance: Investigation of exchange rate behaviour has been an important topic in international monetary economics because of the impact of exchange rates on economies. One strand of the literature has focused on explaining the observed movement

A real differential view of equilibrium real exchange rates and misalignments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This paper examines the interaction of G7 real exchange rates with real output and interest rate differentials. Using cointegration methods, we generally find a link between the real exchange rate and the real interest differential.
