Finite‐Block Polynomial and Volterra Structure in Reservoir Computing

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, Volume 33, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Reservoir computing is analyzed through the algebraic structure generated by finite‐width reservoirs on fixed input blocks. For linear and quadratic logistic activations, the induced input‐to‐state map admits an exact finite Volterra representation, yielding an explicit characterization of the associated hypothesis class.

Implications of heterogeneous embankment conditions for geoelectrical investigations on dams: A case study at Mactaquac Dam, Canada

open access: yesNear Surface Geophysics, Volume 24, Issue 4, Page 303-324, August 2026.
Abstract Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) has been shown to be effective for surveying and monitoring dams, due to the method's sensitivity to moisture content and relevant physical properties (e.g., porosity). Automated ERT systems, capable of time‐lapse monitoring, can be used to detect variations in ground conditions.

The dual role of detritus as resource and habitat: integrating non‐trophic processes to ecosystem dynamics

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 8, August 2026.
The diversity of ecological interactions, both trophic and non‐trophic, is central to understanding the assembly of communities. However, we have yet to study non‐trophic processes through their action on ecosystem compartments such as detritus involved in both recycling and habitat provisioning.

Kinetics of ε‐Caprolactone Ring Opening Polymerization: Experimental and Modeling Study

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 64, Issue 15, Page 3226-3237, 1 August 2026.
We present a multi‐scale model for the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone to polycaprolactone (PCL), approximating final melt properties. We conducted batch experiments at various temperatures and reactant ratios. Using this data, we determined the kinetic parameters.

A Glacial Fjord Box Model: Derivation and Representation of Glacially Modified Water

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Fjords are a crucial connection between the Greenland Ice Sheet and the ocean, but remain unrepresented at the scale of many Earth System Models. To parameterize mixing within them, we modify a two‐layer estuary box model to include buoyant plumes, which are common features of glacial fjords.

The ASTE‐BGC Data‐Assimilative Regional Ocean Biogeochemical Model

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract We present a data‐assimilative regional ocean biogeochemical model, ASTE‐BGC, which simulates the physical and biogeochemical state of the North Atlantic Ocean from 2002 to 2017. Model physics are provided by a physical state estimate (ASTE), which assimilates O(109) in situ and satellite‐based observations over the model domain and time ...
