A Methodology for the Breakdown of NRW into Real and Administrative Losses

Water Resources Management, 2013
The estimation of Non Revenue Water (NRW) is simple and easy for water suppliers who keep records of the system input volume and the billed authorized consumption. However, the breakdown of NRW into its two main components real and administrative which refers to the unbilled authorized consumption plus apparent losses is not an easy or straight forward

Real time hearing loss simulation

2020
A real-time hearing loss simulator (HLS) based on an inverse, compressive, GammaChirp (GC) filterbank has been developed. This presentation will describe the algorithm used for simulation and will further present data from several previous experiments to illustrate how and why this HLS can be used for.

Real Estate Losses

2013
Real estate has long been the traditional safe haven for taxes. It provides an opportunity for tax-free (deferred) cash flow. It also offers tax-deferred appreciation, or growth in the value of the investment. It even offers the opportunity to sell assets and purchase others without incurring any tax on the realized gains.

A real-time loss performance monitoring scheme

Computer Communications, 2005
Performance monitoring systems are becoming increasingly important in providing quality-of-service (QoS) based services and service guarantees. Performance monitoring can occur at different levels and different timescales. Either passive measurements or active measurements can be employed.

Near‐real‐time loss estimation for instrumented buildings

The Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings, 2006
AbstractA technique is developed to model instrumented buildings with a second‐generation performance‐based earthquake engineering approach, producing a damage and loss estimate shortly after the cessation of strong motion. It estimates the likely locations of damage (including concealed structural damage), potentially saving the owner time and money ...

Packet loss probability for real-time wireless communications

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2002
A novel Markov model is constructed to calculate the packet loss probability and the delay distribution of real-time wireless packets. These packets are transmitted through an erroneous channel modeled by a two-state Markov chain. If a packet transmission is not successful, the packet is retransmitted until a delay limit is exceeded.

Data Loss Prevention in Real Life

2012
Stuxnet, PDF-exploits, Flame, tax CDs and Liechtenstein – there are various threats out there in the real world. And they all have one thing in common: the attacks are far from being trivial offence but are pursuing clear economical or even political goals.
