Addressing persistent challenges in digital image analysis of cancer tissue: resources developed from a hackathon

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

The anterior nucleus of the thalamus plays a role in the epileptic network

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 2010-2024, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives We investigated both the metabolic differences and interictal/ictal discharges of the anterior nucleus of the thalamus (ANT) in patients with epilepsy to clarify the relationship between the ANT and the epileptic network. Methods Nineteen patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy who underwent stereoelectroencephalography were studied ...

Molecular and functional profiling unravels targetable vulnerabilities in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We used whole exome and RNA‐sequencing to profile divergent genomic and transcriptomic landscapes of microsatellite stable (MSS) and microsatellite instable (MSI) colorectal cancer. Alterations were classified using a computational score for integrative cancer variant annotation and prioritization.

Exploration of heterogeneity and recurrence signatures in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study leveraged public datasets and integrative bioinformatic analysis to dissect malignant cell heterogeneity between relapsed and primary HCC, focusing on intercellular communication, differentiation status, metabolic activity, and transcriptomic profiles.

Time, the final frontier

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This article advocates integrating temporal dynamics into cancer research. Rather than relying on static snapshots, researchers should increasingly consider adopting dynamic methods—such as live imaging, temporal omics, and liquid biopsies—to track how tumors evolve over time.

Projective product spaces

open access: yes, 2009
Let nbar=(n_1,...,n_r). The quotient space P_nbar:=(S^{n_1} x...x S^{n_r})/(x ~ -x)is what we call a projective product space. We determine the integral cohomology ring and the action of the Steenrod algebra.

Graph C*-algebras and Z/2Z-quotients of quantum spheres

open access: yes, 2003
We consider two Z/2Z-actions on the Podles generic quantum spheres. They yield, as noncommutative quotient spaces, the Klimek-Lesniewski q-disc and the quantum real projective space, respectively. The C*-algebras of all these quantum spaces are described

On Real Projective Spaces as Finsler Manifolds [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1967
Let M be a finite-dimensional C3 manifold supplied with a C2 Finsler metric ds = F(x, dx), which is not necessarily even in dx. Let p designate the induced oriented topological metric. For any p E M, the antipodal locus of p is the set A(p)= {qEMIp(p, q)_p(p, r) for all rEM}.

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

On the stable homotopy of the real projective space of even low dimension

open access: yes, 1986
We denote by {X, Y] the group of stable homotopy classes of mappings from X to Y. We denote by P the real n-dimensional projective space. The purpose of this note is to determine the group structure of {P, P} for 2^ng4 (Theorems 2.4, 3.4 and 5.6).
