Tracking multiple pedestrians in real-time using kinematics

2008 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshops, 2008
We present an algorithm for real-time tracking of multiple pedestrians in a dynamic scene. The algorithm is targeted for embedded systems and reduces computational and storage costs by using an inexpensive kinematic tracking model with only fixed-point arithmetic representations.

Students' reading images in kinematics: The case of real-time graphs

International Journal of Science Education, 2002
Graphs of real-time experiments are useful tools in science education; their intrinsic features allow innovative didactic approaches. The use of such images is spreading and is likely to become common classroom practice. This paper describes a study in which secondary school students were called upon to read and interpret documents containing images of

Reinstating parcel boundaries by real time kinematic GPS

Survey Review, 2006
Abstract Cadastre is a method for registration of land ownership. Due to the major legal importance of marking parcel boundary points in the field, constant re-measuring, reinstating and marking of boundary points are required. In Israel this process is characterized by a predominant and continuous difficulty in the consistent renewal of boundary ...

Finger Kinematic Modeling and Real-Time Hand Motion Estimation

Annals of Biomedical Engineering, 2007
This paper describes methods and experimental studies concerned with quantitative reconstruction of finger movements in real-time, by means of multi-camera system and 24 surface markers. The approach utilizes a kinematic model of the articulated hand which consists in a hierarchical chain of rigid body segments characterized by 22 functional degrees of

Real-Time Inverse Kinematics through Constrained Dynamics

1998
Motion capture is an essential technique for interactive systems, such as distributed virtual reality, video games, and entertainment. Inverse kinematics algorithms are often used to minimize the number of trackers required for motion capture systems. The solving of inverse kinematics problems can be computationally expensive.

On the Kinematics of the UPS Wrist for Real Time Control

22nd Biennial Mechanisms Conference: Robotics, Spatial Mechanisms, and Mechanical Systems, 1992
Abstract A parallel structure is used in the design of the UPS wrist to allow for a large payload, high speed, high repeatability, and a large workspace. Because of the inherent design and machining difficulties involved with spherical mechanisms, a spatial mechanism has been adopted.

Internet-Based Real-Time Kinematic Positioning

GPS Solutions, 2002
This article investigates the use of the Internet as the communication link between the base and rover stations for the development of an Internet-based Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) system. An Internet-based RTK system has many advantages if compared to current radio-based RTK systems.

Application of inverse kinematics for skeleton manipulation in real-time

Proceedings of the 19th Spring Conference on Computer Graphics, 2003
Usual way of character's animation is the use of motion captured data. Acquired bones' orientations are blended together according to user input in real-time. Although this massively used method gives a nice results, practical experience show how important is to have a system for interactive direct manipulation of character's skeleton in order to ...

Results of Real-Time Kinematic Positioning Based on Real GPS L5 Data

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2016
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is currently being upgraded from a dual- to a triple-frequency constellation. Although a full triple-frequency constellation will not be realized before 2021, we can already make use of these new signals for positioning.
