ABSTRACT Pinctada margaritifera (black‐lipped pearl oyster) artefacts are ubiquitous in the archaeological record throughout the Pacific and particularly in Polynesia. Despite efforts towards the development of typologies, the lack of microwear and use‐wear studies has prevented the development of technological approaches. We used 20 pearl shell valves

We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

Evaluation of schmidt rebound hammer testing: A critical approach
Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, 1993In the present paper, a critical approach to the evaluation of Schmidt hammer testing is attempted. Through a statistical analysis of field measurements on sandstone blocks from the archaeological site of Delphi (Greece), it was shown that there is an inconsistency in the correction method proposed by the manufacturer, in relation to the direction of ...
