Development of rating curves for concrete rebound hammer on concrete specimens from local aggregates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1957
Frequently engineers find it imperative to determine the compressive strength of concrete as it exists in a structure. There are two methods of making this determination, either by a destructive or a non-destructive test.

Beyond omics: From descriptive profiling to causal and scalable design of fermentation microbiomes

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Fermentation microbiomes play essential roles in food production, feed preservation, waste valorization, and diverse sustainable industrial processes. Although multi‐omics and systems biology have substantially advanced our understanding of their assembly, interactions, and functional dynamics, industrial translation remains constrained by fragmented ...

Plastic luminescence in mechanoluminescent composites

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
Through compression tests and numerical simulations, this study demonstrates that the luminescence of a mechanoluminescent (ML) composite is strongly associated with plastic strain, thereby providing new insight into deformation‐induced luminescence during the plastic stage.

Multi-parameter evaluation of concrete compressive strength using nondestructive techniques

open access: yesDiscover Civil Engineering
Accurate assessment of in-situ concrete strength is critical for ensuring structural safety and durability. While nondestructive testing (NDT) methods such as the ultrasonic pulse velocity test and Schmidt’s rebound hammer are widely used, their ...

Visual analysis and Schmidt rebound hammer test of Taj-ul-Masajid

Exposure–Recovery Approach for Hepatic Toxicity Analysis of Pyrethroid Lambda‐Cyhalothrin: Histopathological, Histochemical, and Biochemical Responses in Oreochromis niloticus

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lambda‐cyhalothrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide widely used in agriculture, but its potential to contaminate aquatic ecosystems and exert high toxicity on fish at low concentrations raises ecotoxicological concerns. While standard histopathological and biochemical assessments are common, the novel integration of pigment‐based ...

Differential Associations Between Relational Health and Mental Health Among Civilian and Military‐Affiliated Samples Reporting Moral Injury

open access: yesJournal of Counseling &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The symptoms of anxiety and depression are commonly reported within military‐ and non‐military‐affiliated populations, with considerable evidence available to counselors regarding which relational characteristics function as protective factors among these populations.

Supply constraints on rebound effects of increased energy efficiency : negative multiplier and disinvestment effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Policies that aim to use increased energy efficiency to reduce energy use may not achieve the desired results due to the likelihood of rebound effects.

A Framework for Subgroup Dynamics Through the System Dynamics Lens: An Integrative Review of the Attribute and the Network Views

open access: yesJournal of Organizational Behavior, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Subgroups are dynamic entities evolving constantly in response to changing contexts and time. Although scholars from both the attribute and the network views have acknowledged that subgroups are inherently complex and fluid, research in these traditions has remained bifurcated, with limited efforts to integrate the two perspectives to more ...
