Assessing the Rebound Hammer Test for Rammed Earth Material [PDF]
Rammed-earth (RE) is a construction material manufactured from the soil. The soil is compacted at its optimum water content, inside a formwork to build a monolithic wall. RE material is attracting renewed interest throughout the world thanks to its sustainable characteristics: low embodied energy, substantial thermal inertia, and natural regulator of ...

Evaluation of schmidt rebound hammer testing: A critical approach
Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, 1993In the present paper, a critical approach to the evaluation of Schmidt hammer testing is attempted. Through a statistical analysis of field measurements on sandstone blocks from the archaeological site of Delphi (Greece), it was shown that there is an inconsistency in the correction method proposed by the manufacturer, in relation to the direction of ...

Testing of concrete by rebound method: Leeb versus Schmidt hammers
Materials and Structures/Materiaux Et Constructions, 2018Hardness is considered as an important property of concrete; it can be used to estimate compressive strength of concrete in situ. The classic Schmidt rebound hammer is the most popular nondestructive method to measure concrete surface hardness, while the Leeb rebound hammer has been extensively studied in geological and metallographic fields over ...

Testing of SFRC by the Schmidt Rebound Hammer
MRS Proceedings, 1990AbstractThe rebound number, its relationship to fundamental frequency and correlations with compressive strength and erosion - abrasion resistance are discussed. Nine mix proportions were used. The w/c ratios were varied from 0.30 to 0.65. The volumetric percentage of hooked steel fibres was varied from 0.25 to 2.0 vol.% at the w/c of 0.30; at the ...

Applying Support Vector Machines in Rebound Hammer Test
Advanced Materials Research, 2013There are several nondestructive testing techniques available to test the compressive strength of the concrete and the Rebound Hammer Test is among one of the fast and economical methods. Nevertheless, it is found that the prediction results from Rebound Hammer Test are not satisfying (over 20% mean absolute percentage error).

Evaluation of Schmidt Hammer Rebound Hardness Test Holders
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1984Abstract An evaluation is made of three different holders for Schmidt hammer tests on rock core in the laboratory, including steel angle, V-notch, and semicircular groove holders. The differences are small, but it is shown that the V-notch holder gives consistently higher rebound hardness values.

Rebound hammer test to estimate compressive strength of heat exposed concrete
Construction and Building Materials, 2018Abstract The residual concrete strength is required for evaluating the safety of reinforced concrete structures after fire. Based on the surface hardness of concrete, a rebound hammer test has been used to evaluate the compressive strength at the ambient temperature and after fire.
