Pronatalistic Value of Children and Sri Lanka’s Fertility Rebound

Child Indicators Research, 2021
Unexpectedly, Sri Lanka started demonstrating an increase in fertility, since the early part of the new millennium. The Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of 5.3 births per woman in the 1950s which declined to 3.4 in 1981 and further to 1.9 during the period 1995–2000 unexpectedly soared to the 2.3 level as evidenced by the 2006–07 DHS.

Clast transport history influences Schmidt hammer rebound values

Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 2020
AbstractThe Schmidt hammer (SH) is widely used in geomorphology for relative‐ and calibrated‐exposure age dating surfaces and deposits within landforms. This study employs a laboratory‐based methodology to assess the effects of surface roughness, clast roundness, and clast volume on SH rebound values (R‐values) by analyzing samples from three modern ...

The effect of sample size on Schmidt rebound hardness value of rocks

International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, 2009
Abstract The Schmidt hammer has been commonly used device for hardness determination and for predicting the unconfined compressive strength and other mechanical properties of rocks, due to the fact that it is a quick, easy, inexpensive and non-destructive testing method. Testing is most commonly performed following the ISRM and ASTM standards.

The impact of manufacturing servitization on consumption-based carbon rebound effect: A global value chain research perspective

Science of The Total Environment, 2023
This study investigates the causal effect of manufacturing servitization on the consumption-based carbon rebound effect, employing the empirical approach based on the value-added trade and SBM-DEA model. The results show that improving the servitization level will lead to a significant decrease in the consumption-based carbon rebound effect of the ...

The effect of repeated measurements and the use of topical anesthetic on rebound tonometry values in children

Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2014
Measurement of intraocular pressure (IOP) in children is important in the management of pediatric glaucoma. Availability of the Icare rebound tonometer has greatly facilitated our ability to obtain awake IOP in infants and children, but little has been reported on either the effect of repeated sequential IOP measurements with Icare or the effect of ...

Surface and sub‐surface Schmidt hammer rebound value variation for a granite outcrop

Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 2011
AbstractThis study presents rock strength variations at granite outcrops and in subsurface vertical profiles in the Jizerské hory Mountains, Czech Republic. Schmidt hammer rebound values in subsurface profiles change gradually from the bedrock surface downward. An exponential relation has been observed between the R‐values and depth in rock outcrops to

Value of rebound tenderness in acute appendicitis.

East African medical journal, 1995
This is a prospective study on 123 randomly selected patients admitted with the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. The value of rebound tenderness as a clinical diagnostic tool was statistically compared to those of some other physical signs; namely guarding, rigidity and Rovsing's sign. Rebound tenderness was found to carry the highest sensitivity (94.7%

The performance prediction of impact hammers from Schmidt hammer rebound values in Istanbul metro tunnel drivages

Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, 2002
The construction of the first metro line in Istanbul was realized between Galata and Beyoglu by a French Engineer Henry Gavand in January 1875. Six different metro projects were submitted since then to the Turkish authorities. The construction of 7-km metro tunnels phase 1 started in 1992 and the metro line of the phase 1 is opened to the service in ...

The value of septal rebound stretch analysis for the prediction of volumetric response to cardiac resynchronization therapy

2021
AIMS: Patient selection for cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) may be enhanced by evaluation of systolic myocardial stretching. We evaluate whether systolic septal rebound stretch (SRSsept) derived from speckle tracking echocardiography is a predictor of reverse remodelling after CRT and whether it holds additive predictive value over the simpler ...

Research on the Change Rules of Longitudinal Wave Velocity and the Rebound Value of Sandstone under Water-Rock Interaction

Advances in Transportation Geotechnics and Materials for Sustainable Infrastructure, 2014
With the development of the construction of hydropower engineering, the change rule of physical and mechanical properties of rock under water-rock interaction has become a hot research topic. However, the change rules of longitudinal wave velocity and rebound value of rock were less involved in the past.
