Seismic, Receiver Function Technique
2011Definition: Receiver function. Response of the Earth’s structure below seismic stations to incident teleseismic waves. Seismic discontinuities in the Earth’s crust or upper mantle cause waves from distant earthquakes to be converted from P to S waves or vice versa, or to be multiply reflected between discontinuities before arriving the stations.

Adrenal function in patients receiving medroxyprogesterone acetate
Contraception, 1974Abstract Adrenal and pituitary function studies consisting of ACTH stimulation and SU-4885 tests were performed on ten patients before and during medroxyprogesterone acetate injections for one year. Plasma cortisols and urinary excretion rates of 17-ketosteroid and 17-ketogenic steroids were measured before and during the test.

Granulocyte Function in Patients Receiving Lithium Carbonate
1980Phagocytic cells provide protection against a wide variety of microbial pathogens. A depletion of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) below a critical number (Bodey et al., 1966) and/or abnormality in their cellular function (Quie, 1975) is associated with serious infection.

Assessment of renal function in the patient receiving chemotherapy
Cancer Nursing, 1989With foresight, knowledge, and an awareness of the problem, nephrotoxicity associated with chemotherapy can be prevented or minimized, thereby avoiding irreversible renal failure or death. Careful assessment of those patients at risk for renal damage and the identification of early signs/symptoms of renal impairment are key steps in the prevention and ...

Monitoring Cardiac Function in Patients Receiving Doxorubicin
Seminars in Nuclear Medicine, 2005Despite its well-known cardiotoxicity, doxorubicin continues to be an effective and widely used antineoplastic agent. Many efforts have focused on understanding the mechanism of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity and on preventing it completely. Currently protective agents, eg, liposomal doxorubicin formulation, which results in less myocardial uptake,

Receiver Modeling for Static Functional Crosstalk Analysis
2006Crosstalk analysis has become a significant part of the design cycle of high performance processors in nanometer technologies. In this paper we demonstrate that current crosstalk analysis techniques that ignore the degrading effect of multiple crosstalk events on receiver noise rejection curve filter significant number of true violations.

Functional Implementation of a GPS Receiver
2011In this chapter, we will explore the details of the GPS100SC hardware. Each block of the receiver will now be individually discussed in detail. Details of circuits will be presented for most of the blocks. For the Code, Doppler, and Clock recovery circuits some analysis is done along with detailed operational issues.
