Imaging Lithospheric Discontinuities Beneath the Northern East African Rift Using S‐to‐P Receiver Functions [PDF]
Imaging the lithosphere is key to understand mechanisms of extension as rifting progresses. Continental rifting results in a combination of mechanical stretching and thinning of the lithosphere, decompression upwelling, heating, sometimes partial melting

We report a study using teleseismic P-wave receiver functions to infer the orientation of the maximum horizontal principal stress from the direction of upper crustal shear-wave velocity anisotropy.

Permian plume beneath Tarim from receiver functions [PDF]
Receiver functions for the central Tien Shan and northern Tarim in central Asia reveal a pronounced depression on the 410 km discontinuity beneath the Permian basalts in Tarim. The depression may be caused by elevated temperature.

Ethiopia's Cenozoic flood basalt magmatism, uplift, and rifting have been attributed to one or more mantle plumes. The Nubian plate, however, has drifted 500–1,000 km north since initial magmatism at ∼45 Ma, having developed above mantle that now ...

Lung Function in Patients Receiving Busulphan [PDF]
An attempt was made to achieve earlier detection of busulphan lung (fibrosing alveolitis) and to determine its incidence by means of serial studies during life, including measurement of the gas transfer factor. Twenty-three patients were investigated over an average period of nearly two years of busulphan treatment.

Receiver Function Seismology [PDF]
The application results of the receiver function technique are briefly outlined. The topography of the main seismic boundaries in the mantle transition zone is evaluated with resolution of about 3 km in depth and about 200 km laterally. The maximal amplitudes of depth variations of the main boundaries reach tens of kilometers.

For the first time, we measured the ellipticity of direct Rayleigh waves at intermediate periods (15–35 s) on Mars using the recordings of three large seismic Martian events, including S1222a, the largest event recorded by the InSight mission.

An upper mantle seismic discontinuity (the Gutenberg or G discontinuity), at which shear wave velocity decreases with depth, has been mapped from S‐to‐p conversions in radial receiver functions recorded across the Galápagos Archipelago. The mean depth of

New Insights Into Lithospheric Structure and Melting Beneath the Colorado Plateau
The Colorado Plateau and its surroundings serve as an archetypal case to investigate the interaction of mantle melting processes and lithospheric structure.
