Receiver operating characteristic curves

BMJ, 2011
Researchers evaluated the performance of a cognitive test called “test your memory” as a screening test for Alzheimer’s disease. The screening test is designed to use minimal operator time and to be suitable for non-specialist use. It is self administered under medical supervision.

Receiver Operator characteristic (ROC) Analysis without Truth

Medical Decision Making, 1990
Receiver operator characteristic (ROC) analysis, the preferred method of evaluating diag nostic imaging tests, requires an independent assessment of the true state of disease, which can be difficult to obtain and is often of questionable accuracy. A new method of analysis is described which does not require independent truth data and which can be used

Receiver Operating Characteristic Analysis of Diagnostic Skill

Medical Care, 1983
In an effort to assess diagnostic skill, the authors collected estimates of the probability of positive results for 392 chest x-rays and 595 throat cultures from 56 pediatricians at different stages in training. Positivity rates were 28.6% for x-rays and 32.9% for throat cultures.

Entanglement-Enhanced Receiver Operating Characteristics

CLEO 2025
We improve the performance of temporal coincidence counting using fractional Fourier domain time-frequency correlations achieved through non-local dispersion protocols. This protocol achieved up to an 89 dB improved detection rate using receiver operating characteristics.

Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Analysis

2009
Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC curves) have been used for years in decision making from signals, such as radar or radiology. Basically they plot the hit rate versus the false alarm rate. They were introduced recently in data mining and machine learning to take into account different misclassification costs, or to deal with skewed class ...

The Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve

2003
Abstract In this chapter we consider medical tests with results that are not simply positive or negative, but that are measured on continuous or ordinal scales. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve is currently the best-developed statistical tool for describing the performance of such tests.
