Risk assessment and receiver operating characteristic curves [PDF]
Risk assessment is now regarded as a necessary competence in psychiatry. The area under the curve (AUC) statistic of the receiver operating characteristic curve is increasingly offered as the main evidence for accuracy of risk assessment instruments. But, even a highly statistically significant AUC is of limited value in clinical practice.

Semi-parametric Regression for the Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve [PDF]
Medical advances continue to provide new and potentially better means for detecting disease. Such is true in cancer, for example, where biomarkers are sought for early detection and where improvements in imaging methods may pick up the initial ...

Resilience Family of Receiver Operating Characteristic Curves
A new semiparametric model of the ROC curve based on the resilience family or proportional reversed hazard family is proposed which is an alternative to the existing models. The resulting ROC curve and its summary indices (such as area under the curve (AUC) and Youden index) have simple analytic forms.

Smooth time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve estimators [PDF]
The receiver operating characteristic curve is a popular graphical method often used to study the diagnostic capacity of continuous (bio)markers. When the considered outcome is a time-dependent variable, two main extensions have been proposed: the cumulative/dynamic receiver operating characteristic curve and the incident/dynamic receiver operating ...

Statistical Methodology: III. Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curves [PDF]
ABSTRACTMeasures including sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values have been traditionally used to assess a diagnostic test's ability to detect the presence or absence of disease. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis allows visual evaluation of the trade‐offs between sensitivity and specificity associated
