Emerging roles of the neurotrophin receptor TrkC in synapse organization
Neuroscience Research, 2017Tropomyosin-receptor-kinase (Trk) receptors have been extensively studied for their roles in kinase-dependent signaling cascades in nervous system development. Synapse organization is coordinated by trans-synaptic interactions of various cell adhesion proteins, a representative example of which is the neurexin-neuroligin complex. Recently, a novel role

TrkA and TrkC neurotrophin receptor-like proteins in the lizard gut
Cell and Tissue Research, 2001The tyrosine kinase proteins (Trk), encoded by the trk family of proto-oncogenes, mediate, in mammals, the action of neurotrophins, a family of growth factors acting on the development and maintenance of the nervous system. Neurotrophins and their specific receptors, TrkA, TrkB and TrkC, seem to be phylogenetically well preserved but, in reptiles, data

Dimeric β-turn peptidomimetics as ligands for the neurotrophin receptor TrkC
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2001Twelve dimeric peptidomimetics 1 were prepared via a divergent-convergent strategy. These peptidomimetics incorporated the same amino acids as i +1 and i + 2 residues in key beta-turns of the neurotrophin NT-3. Cytosensor microphysiometry was used to gauge the effects of the dimers 1 on cells that overexpress the NT-3 receptor, TrkC.

Neurotrophin Signaling via TrkB and TrkC Receptors Promotes the Growth of Brain Tumor-initiating Cells [PDF]
Neurotrophins and their receptors are frequently expressed in malignant gliomas, yet their functions are largely unknown. Previously, we have shown that p75 neurotrophin receptor is required for glioma invasion and proliferation. However, the role of Trk receptors has not been examined.

Expression of trkC receptor mRNA during development of the avian nervous system
Journal of Neurobiology, 1994AbstractNeurotrophin‐3 (NT‐3) has mitogenic and neurogenic activities on distinct central and peripheral nervous system (CNS and PNS) progenitors in avian embryos. It was therefore important to characterize in detail the expression pattern of TrkC, a high‐affinity receptor for NT‐3, during nervous system ontogeny.

Neurotrophin 3 and its Receptor TrkC Immunoreactivity in Glucagon Cells of Buffalo Pancreas
Anatomia, Histologia, Embryologia, 2003SummaryNeurotrophin 3 (NT3), a member of the neurotrophin family, and its specific receptor tyrosine kinase C (TrkC) are involved in the differentiation, survival, and maintenance of many neuronal populations. Recently, NT3 and TrkC were also retained involved in the biology of non‐neuronal tissues.

Voluntary exercise increases neurotrophin-3 and its receptor TrkC in the spinal cord
Brain Research, 2003We have evaluated changes in the expression of neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) and its tyrosine kinase C (TrkC) receptor in the neuromuscular system as a result of voluntary physical activity. We assessed changes in the mRNAs and proteins for NT-3 and TrkC in the lumbar spinal cord and associated soleus muscle following 3 and 7 days of voluntary wheel running ...

TrkB but not trkC receptors are necessary for postnatal maintenance of hippocampal spines
Neurobiology of Aging, 2008Dendritic spines are major sites of excitatory synaptic transmission and changes in their densities have been linked to alterations in learning and memory. The neurotrophins brain-derived neurotrophic factor and neurotrophin-3 and their receptors, trkB and trkC, are thought to be involved in learning, memory and long-term potentiation (LTP).

AbstractThe TrkC subfamily of primary high‐affinity neurotrophin‐3 receptors is composed of catalytic (kinase‐containing; TrkC K) and noncatalytic (TrkC NC) isoforms generated by alternative splicing. We previously reported the presence of the mouse noncatalytic TrkC NC2 isoform in regions of neuronal differentiation [Menn, B., Timsit, S., Calothy, G. &

Cancer Immunology, Immunotherapy, 2022
Conventional cancer therapies such as chemotherapy are non-selective and induce immune system anergy, which lead to serious side effects and tumor relapse. It is a challenge to prime the body's immune system in the cancer-bearing subject to produce cancer antigen-targeting antibodies, as most tumor-associated antigens are expressed abundantly in cancer
