TrkB signaling is required for postnatal survival of CNS neurons and protects hippocampal and motor neurons from axotomy-induced cell death [PDF]
Newborn mice carrying targeted mutations in genes encoding neurotrophins or their signaling Trk receptors display severe neuronal deficits in the peripheral nervous system but not in the CNS. In this study, we show that trkB (¿/¿) mice have a significant

Expression of Neurotrophins and Their Receptors Tropomyosin-related kinases (Trk) under Tension-stress during Distraction Osteogenesis [PDF]
The localization and expression of neurotrophins and their receptors during distraction osteogenesis was investigated in 72 male rat femurs (11 weeks old) to further clarify the concurrence of cellular and molecular events of new bone formation.

Elucidating glycosaminoglycan–protein–protein interactions using carbohydrate microarray and computational approaches [PDF]
Glycosaminoglycan polysaccharides play critical roles in many cellular processes, ranging from viral invasion and angiogenesis to spinal cord injury.

Developmental expression of trkC, the neurotrophin-3 receptor, in the mammalian nervous system [PDF]
The mammalian trkC gene encodes a tyrosine protein kinase that serves as a functional receptor for neurotrophin-3 (NT-3). Here, we report that trkC is widely expressed in the developing and adult nervous system. Using in situ hybridization, we first detect trkC transcripts in the telencephalon and spinal cord of embryonic day 9.5 mouse embryos.

Hey1- and p53-dependent TrkC proapoptotic activity controls neuroblastoma growth.
The neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) receptor tropomyosin receptor kinase C (TrkC/NTRK3) has been described as a dependence receptor and, as such, triggers apoptosis in the absence of its ligand NT-3.

Myelination: all about Rac n roll. [PDF]
During the development of the peripheral nervous system, Schwann cells select individual axons from a nerve bundle and establish a one-to-one relationship through a process termed radial sorting. Recent findings identify the Rho family GTPase Rac1 as the

Neurotrophins and neurotrophin receptors in proliferative diabetic retinopathy. [PDF]
Neurotrophins (NTs) are emerging as important mediators of angiogenesis and fibrosis. We investigated the expression of the NTs nerve growth factor (NGF), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), neurotrophin-3 (NT-3), and neurotrophin-4 (NT-4) and ...

Accumulating evidence has suggested that neurotrophins participate in the pathophysiology of mood disorders. We have developed transgenic mice overexpressing the full-length neurotrophin-3 receptor TrkC (TgNTRK3) in the central nervous system.

Runx3 is required for the specification of TrkC-expressing mechanoreceptive trigeminal ganglion neurons [PDF]
Sensory neurons project axons to specific peripheral and central targets according to their sensory modality. Runx3 is crucially involved in proprioceptive dorsal root ganglion neuron development.
