RADIOLIGAND RECEPTOR ASSAY OF FSH

Acta Endocrinologica, 1976
ABSTRACT The assay of FSH by a radioligand receptor assay (RLA) using homogenates of rat testicular tissue incubated for 17 h at 21°C has been assessed. Chloramine-T or lactoperoxidase were used for iodination. The assay gave linear dose-response lines between 30 and 2000 ng sheep FSH/tube, and there was usually no major interference by LH. Two batches

Regulation of the FSH Receptor in the Ovary

Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1999
The follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) is found exclusively on granulosa cells from as early as the two-layer or primary stage of folliculogenesis. Up to four alternatively spliced transcripts have been described. An increase in steady-state levels of FSHR mRNA as well as a change in alternative splicing appear to be important during early ...

The molecular biology of the FSH receptor

The Journal of Steroid Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1995
The actions of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) mediated through its receptor are necessary for the proper functioning of mammalian gonads. The FSH receptor is localized on granulosa cells of the ovary and Sertoli cells of the testis. The expression of the FSH receptor (FSHR) in Sertoli cells varies in vivo as a function of the stage of the cycle of ...

Expression of the FSH Receptor in the Testis

1993
FSH has multiple and changing roles in the regulation of spermatogenesis. The first function of FSH is to increase the number of Sertoli cells by stimulation of their mitotic activity. During the prepubertal phase of development, FSH is important for the maturation of the Sertoli cells.

Cloning and sequencing of human FSH receptor cDNA

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1991
We have isolated and sequenced a cDNA encoding the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) receptor. The deduced amino acid sequence (678 residues) containing seven putative transmembrane segments which displays sequence similarity to G protein-coupled receptors.

Abnormality of testicular FSH receptors in infertile men

Acta Endocrinologica, 1984
Abstract. To ascertain whether abnormalities in testicular binding of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) are related with spermatogenic impairment found in idiopathic male infertility, we measured FSH receptors in testicular tissues obtained by biopsy from 37 infertile men.

Regulation of FSH receptor promoter activation in the osteoclast

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2007
We have shown recently that FSH stimulates osteoclast formation and function by a direct action on a G(i)-coupled FSH receptor (FSHR). Here, we report properties of the mouse FSH receptor promoter in the context of its activation in RAW-C3 osteoclast precursor macrophages.

Functional expression of the recombinant human FSH receptor

Journal of Endocrinology, 1994
Abstract The functional capacity of the recombinant human FSH (hFSH) receptor was tested on the basis of gonadotrophin stimulation of cyclic AMP (cAMP) production by transient transfections of 293 cells and stable transfections of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells.

Inactivating FSH receptor mutations and gonadal dysfunction

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1998
A variety of mutations and polymorphisms of genes regulating female and male reproductive functions have been discovered during the last few years. These include several inactivating and activating mutations in LH receptor genes. The first mutation of FSH receptor (FSHR) gene was discovered in six Finnish families.

Ovarian response to FSH stimulation depends on the FSH receptor genotype.

2000
Because the ovarian response to FSH stimulation in assisted reproduction is variable, ranging from hyporesponse to hyperresponse, with the possible complication of ovarian hyperstimulation, it would be of great benefit to predict the response of the patients to FSH. To date, no clear-cut predictors of ovarian responsiveness to FSH have been identified.
