Abnormality of testicular FSH receptors in infertile men

Acta Endocrinologica, 1984
Abstract. To ascertain whether abnormalities in testicular binding of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) are related with spermatogenic impairment found in idiopathic male infertility, we measured FSH receptors in testicular tissues obtained by biopsy from 37 infertile men.

Regulation of Expression of the FSH Receptor

1993
Follicle stimulating hormone (follitropin [FSH]) is a pituitary glycoprotein hormone that is essential for normal reproduction in both male and female mammals. Sertoli cells and granulosa cells are the target cells for the action of FSH in the testes and ovaries, respectively.

Inactivating FSH receptor mutations and gonadal dysfunction

Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, 1998
A variety of mutations and polymorphisms of genes regulating female and male reproductive functions have been discovered during the last few years. These include several inactivating and activating mutations in LH receptor genes. The first mutation of FSH receptor (FSHR) gene was discovered in six Finnish families.

Functional expression of the recombinant human FSH receptor

Journal of Endocrinology, 1994
Abstract The functional capacity of the recombinant human FSH (hFSH) receptor was tested on the basis of gonadotrophin stimulation of cyclic AMP (cAMP) production by transient transfections of 293 cells and stable transfections of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells.

Regulation of FSH receptor promoter activation in the osteoclast

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2007
We have shown recently that FSH stimulates osteoclast formation and function by a direct action on a G(i)-coupled FSH receptor (FSHR). Here, we report properties of the mouse FSH receptor promoter in the context of its activation in RAW-C3 osteoclast precursor macrophages.

LH and FSH Receptor Mutations and Their Effects on Puberty

Hormone Research in Paediatrics, 2002
Several mutations have been detected in the genes encoding the gonadotrophin receptors, and their phenotypic effects are observed in sexual differentiation, pubertal development and fertility of the affected individuals. Both activating and inactivating mutations are known for the gonadotrophin receptors.

Expression of the FSH Receptor in the Sertoli Cells

1994
The regulation of cell-specific genes could result from the interaction of unique transcription factors with specific promoter sequences. In the testes of mammals, follicle stimulating hormone receptors (FSH-Rs) are apparently located only on the Sertoli cells.
