Landscape features predict broad‐scale seed rain patterns across fragments of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 5, May 2026.
Along with precipitation, forest cover emerges as a fundamental driver of alpha and beta diversity in the seed rain. This highlights the role of habitat amount at the landscape level over patch‐level features, like patch size, for seed dispersal. However, increased seed density can be related to higher dispersal rates in forest borders.

Bromelicolous Habit and Phoresy of Ostracoda in a Species of Treefrog From the Brazilian Cerrado

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 51, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Some plants develop phytotelmata, specialized structures that retain water and form small aquatic ecosystems harbouring diverse organisms. Bromeliads (Bromeliaceae) are classic examples, as their leaf axils provide suitable habitats for bacteria, algae, protozoa, invertebrates and vertebrates, including anurans.

Into the Darkness: Unveiling Unexpected Records of the Nonnative Millipede Prosopodesmus jacobsoni Silvestri, 1910 (Polydesmida: Haplodesmidae) in Brazilian Caves

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 2, May 2026.

Opioid‐free vs. opioid‐inclusive anaesthesia with or without regional anaesthesia for postoperative pain: a systematic review with network meta‐analysis of randomised controlled trials

open access: yesAnaesthesia, Volume 81, Issue 5, Page 702-712, May 2026.
Summary Introduction Concerns about opioid‐related adverse effects have increased interest in opioid‐free anaesthesia, but the benefits compared with opioid‐inclusive techniques, especially in the presence of regional anaesthesia, remain uncertain. Methods We undertook a systematic review with a network meta‐analysis of randomised controlled trials ...
