Lubrication of reciprocating compressors

Journal of Synthetic Lubrication, 1989
AbstractWhen gases with different chemical and physical properties are compressed, the type of lubricant to be used in compressing equipment must be given careful consideration. Basically, this equipment can be categorized as reciprocating or rotary. This paper describes the lubrication of reciprocating compressors.

Valve Stiction in Reciprocating Compressors

Advanced Energy Systems, 1996
Abstract Stiction is a common phenomenon observed in day to day life. It also plays an important role in determining the dynamics and reliability of reciprocating compressor valves. However, researchers in the field of compressor technology have paid very little attention for assessing its effects, let alone for understanding the basic ...

Foundation Design for Reciprocating Compressor

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
The problem of the foundation design of the reciprocation compressor with four cylinders is investigated. Some useful terms are retained, which include possible vibration modes, fatigue failures, environmental demands etc. The selection foundations are typical and commonly used in many industry plants.

Thermodynamic analysis of reciprocating compressors

International Journal of Thermal Sciences, 2001
A global model for the thermodynamic analysis of reciprocating compressors is presented. The model is based on five main and four secondary dimensionless physically meaningful parameters. Expressions for the volumetric effectiveness, the work per unit mass and the indicated efficiency are derived.

Effect of Liquid on a Reciprocating Compressor

Fluids Engineering, 2000
Abstract Compressors are intolerant to liquids. Liquids can form inside compressor cylinders by condensation as in refrigerant compressors, or find its place inside cylinders by a gradual or sudden ingestion through the inlet piping in the form of slugs.

Noise Control for Reciprocating Compressors

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1962
Reciprocating compressors, as used in many air-conditioning systems, have long been recognized as potential major sources of airborne and structureborne noise. However, in many installations, some of the noise paths are overlooked either because of incomplete information, ill-defined criteria, or haphazard consideration of the problems.

Prognostics for a reciprocating air compressor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1997
The health of a reciprocating air compressor can affect the time of occurrence of valve impacts within the compressor. A computer simulation reveals useful insight into the nature of the timing changes, which provides a basis for automated prognosis of the machine health.

Reciprocating Compressor Condition Monitoring.

2007
Technology for reciprocating compressor condition monitoring has been around since the 1950s. However until the last 15 years or so it seemed that only the pipeline companies spent much effort on this activity. Technology has advanced, and there are very effective approaches to monitoring and protecting reciprocating compressors on the market today ...
