Static non-reciprocity in mechanical metamaterials

Nature, 2017
Reciprocity is a general, fundamental principle governing various physical systems, which ensures that the transfer function—the transmission of a physical quantity, say light intensity—between any two points in space is identical, regardless of ...

Generalized non-reciprocity in an optomechanical circuit via synthetic magnetism and reservoir engineering

Nature Physics, 2016
Synthetic magnetism has been used to control charge neutral excitations for applications ranging from classical beam steering to quantum simulation. In optomechanics, radiation-pressure-induced parametric coupling between optical (photon) and mechanical (

Reciprocity and voting

Games and Economic Behavior, 2007

Committees and reciprocity

Mathematical Social Sciences, 2006
In this paper we examine the impact of reciprocal motives on decision-making in a committee. We show that any voting behavior that constitutes an equilibrium without reciprocity also represents an equilibrium when people are reciprocally motivated. If reciprocal motives are important, additional equilibria may exist.

Rethinking Reciprocity

Annual Review of Economics, 2014
Reciprocal behavioral has been found to play a significant role in many economic domains, including labor supply, tax compliance, voting behavior, and fund-raising. What explains individuals’ tendency to respond to the kindness of others? Existing theories posit internal preferences for the welfare of others, inequality aversion, or utility from ...

Integrating reciprocity into a social exchange model of inter-firm B2B relationships

The journal of business & industrial marketing, 2019
Purpose Reciprocity has traditionally been overlooked in social exchange models of inter-firm relationships. Therefore, this research integrates reciprocity and its antecedents into a social exchange model of inter-firm relationships.

Reciprocity in Conversation

Language and Speech, 2020
This work provides initial evidence of reciprocity in conversation. We tested whether conversations with contribution imbalances brought on by task demands contained attempts to redress the created imbalance. Pairs of participants identified public art via phone communication.
