Effect of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement on the Properties of Asphalt Binders

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2013
AbstractUsing Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) not only reduces the cost of new asphalt mixtures but also conserve the natural resources. To incorporate RAP in asphalt mix design, it is vital to know the amount and quality of the residual binder. In this research both conventional and Superpave methods were used to determine the virgin and residual ...

Influence of Asphalt Emulsion Stabilization on Pavement Structural Behavior and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Assessing pavement sustainability requires jointly evaluating structural performance and environmental impacts, yet these dimensions are often analyzed separately. This study proposes an integrated framework combining mechanistic–empirical pavement design and life cycle assessment (LCA) to quantify the structural–environmental trade‐off associated with

Preparation and Performance of SBR/SiO2‐Modified Emulsified Asphalt Mixtures Incorporating Recycled Aggregates

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
To address the technical bottlenecks associated with the poor overall performance of emulsified asphalt mixtures incorporating high‐proportion (84 wt%) recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) aggregates, this study proposes a synergistic modification strategy using styrene‐butadiene rubber (SBR) and nano‐silica (SiO2), coupled with the regulation of cement and
