Revisiting Mission‐Oriented Cancer Research to tackle the increasing burden of cancer in Europe–a policy perspective

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Translational cancer research and its implementation through competitively selected Comprehensive Cancer Centers across Europe should be the primary policy focus for addressing the increasing cancer burden in Europe and counteract the present main strategy to convert cancer to a chronic disease.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Multiobjective Personalized Recommendation Algorithm Using Extreme Point Guided Evolutionary Computation

open access: yesComplexity, 2018
Recommender systems suggest items to users based on their potential interests, and they are important to alleviate the search and selection pressures induced by the increasing item information.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Addressing the New User Cold-Start Problem in Recommender Systems Using Ordered Weighted Averaging Operator

open access: yesInternational Journal of Information and Communication Technology Research, 2010
Recommender systems have become significant tools in electronic commerce, proposing effectively those items that best meet the preferences of users. A variety of techniques have been proposed for the recommender systems such as, collaborative filtering ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Active learning algorithm for alleviating the user cold start problem of recommender systems

open access: yesScientific Reports
A key challenge in recommender systems is how to profile new users. A popular solution for this problem is to use active learning strategies. These strategies request ratings for a small set of carefully selected items to reveal the preferences of new ...

User Experiments on the Effect of the Diversity of Consumption on News Services

open access: yesIEEE Access
On many online platforms, more items are being added every day, requiring users to select efficiently the desired item from among these candidates. In similar environments, recommender systems have been introduced, allowing users to select from among ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Systematic Literature Review on Recommender System: Approach, Problem, Evaluation Techniques, Datasets

open access: yesIEEE Access
Recommender systems become essential with the presence of the internet and social media. The perceived benefits of the recommender system can make it easier for users to find suitable products and recommend other products, specifically with lots of ...
