Dynamic Liquid Crystal Elastomers for Body Heat‐ and Sunlight‐ Driven Self‐Sustaining Motion via Material‐Structure Synergy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Diels–Alder bond‐crosslinked liquid crystal elastomers with low nematic‐to‐isotropic transition temperatures and high reprogrammability were developed, enabling low‐energy, self‐sustained actuators through material‐structure synergy. These actuators achieve high strain rates around 30 °C, facilitating self‐sustaining motion powered by ambient/body heat
