Congenital aural atresia reconstruction: A surgical procedure with a long history

open access: yesJournal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2010
Pinna deformities, combined with congenital aural atresia, have been a matter of serious debate in the literature as they are associated with major aesthetic and functional problems that are difficult to manage. These problems have been described as early as 2000 BC.

Surgical treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa with anterior and posterior lateral thoracic fasciocutaneous flaps [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Cirurgia Plástica, 2016
INTRODUCTION: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, multifactorial, and often recurrent bacterial infection, affecting the skin and subcutaneous tissues. However, complete HS resolution can be achieved through surgical treatment.

Plastic Surgical Procedures for Lower Limb Reconstruction at a Tertiary Hospital in Nepal

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Health Research Council, 2021
Background: This study assessed the lower limb reconstruction outcome so that it will provide a baseline evidence to enable data-driven decision making to improve outcome in the future. Methods: In this study, hospital records from 1st January to 31st December 2019 were collected retrospectively.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Reconstruction of the upper extremity in tetraplegia: functional assessment, surgical procedures and rehabilitation [PDF]

open access: yesSpinal Cord, 1991
The results of 22 procedures (8 for elbow extension, 14 for hand rehabilitation) on the upper limb in tetraplegia are reported. To evaluate the effect of surgery an objective hand function test is presented. The few complications after surgery must be attributed to the material used.

Pathophysiologic factors and perioperative therapeutic goals that affect reconstructive surgical procedures with flaps in patients with Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yes, 2022
La diabetes mellitus es considerada un factor de riesgo para complicaciones locales y fracaso quirúrgico en cirugías reconstructivas mediante el uso de colgajos debido a las alteraciones en el proceso de cicatrización propias de este patología.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

New classification of hypertrophy of the labia minora and correlation with indicated surgical techniques [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Cirurgia Plástica, 2018
INTRODUCTION: Nymphoplasty or labioplasty is the most common genital plastic surgery. The objective of labioplasty is to correct hypertrophy of the labia minora and clitoral prepuce, removing excess tissue without affecting their function of protecting ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status
