Robust Recovery of Subspace Structures by Low-Rank Representation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2010
In this paper, we address the subspace clustering problem. Given a set of data samples (vectors) approximately drawn from a union of multiple subspaces, our goal is to cluster the samples into their respective subspaces and remove possible outliers as ...

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

open access: yesBMC Neurology, 2011
Background Recovery patterns of upper extremity motor function have been described in several longitudinal studies, but most of these studies have had selected samples, short follow up times or insufficient outcomes on motor function.

Surgical treatment of the lower leg open fracture with lesions of the main blood vessels. A case report [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2018
Introduction. Open fractures of the lower leg degree IIIC by Gustilo belong to the most serious open fractures of the lower leg segment. These fractures are, along with the main blood vessels damage, often followed by a severe soft-tissue damage of the ...

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

To wait for a spontaneous recovery of the third cranial nerve palsy occurring after the coiling of a PcomA aneurysm or to implement surgical treatment? A case report [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2017
Introduction. In the last two decades a method of endovascular embolization has been imposed as a method of choice in the treatment of unruptured intracranial aneurysms.

Recovery Coupling in Multilayer Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The increased complexity of infrastructure systems has resulted in critical interdependencies between multiple networks---communication systems require electricity, while the normal functioning of the power grid relies on communication systems. These interdependencies have inspired an extensive literature on coupled multilayer networks, assuming that a

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

Role of the Contralesional Hemisphere in Post-Stroke Recovery of Upper Extremity Motor Function

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2015
Identification of optimal treatment strategies to improve recovery is limited by the incomplete understanding of the neurobiological principles of recovery.
