Cars2‐Mediated Cysteine Catabolism Drives Brown Fat Development and Thermogenesis Through Persulfidating EBF2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

Characteristics of Piglets Born by Two Highly Prolific Sow Hybrids

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2020
High piglet mortality constitutes a welfare challenge in Danish organic pig production with almost one in three piglets dying before weaning. Piglet characteristics such as birth weight, rectal temperature and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR ...

Uterine torsion in the mare: a review and three case reports [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
When a mare exhibits signs of colic during the last trimester of gestation, uterine torsion should always be part of the differential diagnosis. Uterine torsion is an infrequently occurring but serious complication in pregnant mares.

Rate-controlled rectal drug delivery in man with a hydrogel preparation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Cylindrical hydrogels of hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as crosslinking agent were prepared by radical polymerization at 70°C.

A Soft Matrix Microenvironment Promotes Laterally Spreading Tumors via Oxidative Phosphorylation‐Dependent Cell Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) are precancerous colorectal lesions characterized by a flat morphology. This study reveals a mechanochemical pathway through which a soft matrix microenvironment diminishes spatial constraints in intestinal adenomas. This process promotes deficiencies in tight junction proteins, mediated by the mechanoreceptor ADORA2B ...

Oral temperature of preweaning dairy heifers: Sensitivity and specificity at detecting individuals with pyrexia

open access: yesJDS Communications
Change in body temperature can be an early indicator of illness. In calves, body temperature is routinely estimated from rectal temperature measurement.

Evaluation of colostrum on an immunological and microbiological level and its relation to calf health: a case study of calves at UVM Miller Research Center [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The objective of this study was to evaluate the colostrum fed to calves at the UVM Miller Research Center on an immunological and bacteriological level as well as to explore the relationship between these factors and the health of the calves.

Integrating Radiomics and Computational Pathology to Predict Early Recurrence of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma and Uncover Its Biological Basis in Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Accurate prediction of early recurrence in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is vital for optimizing treatment. A novel, integrated radiomics‐pathology machine learning model successfully forecasts recurrence risks by analyzing preoperative CT images and computational pathology.

Recent Trends in Metabolomics by NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
AI tools were applied to analyze more than 5 000 publications indexed in Scopus (2018–2025), identifying key trends and research directions in NMR‐based metabolomics. The artificial intelligence‐assisted workflow classified papers into six main fields of application, human health, food and nutrition, veterinary science, plants, environment, and ...

Post-Mortem Estimation of Time of Death of Dogs Based on Measurements of Kidney Temperature in Comparison with Rectal Temperature

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2016
The subject of the study were dogs divided into two groups according to body weight: up to 10 kg and from 10 kg to 30 kg. The aim of the study was to determine the dynamics of the post-mortem decrease in rectal and kidney temperature. The temperature was
