Bending of Rectangular Plates

Journal of the Structural Division, 1961
Structural model is described and analyzed for numerical solution; plate model consists of 2 groups of beams intersecting at right angles, one group being continuous over other; twisting moments in plate are carried by pairs of coil springs; loads are assumed to be concentrated at beam intersections; this procedure provides elastic surface, moments ...

Bending of Rectangular Plates

2017
Many structures such as boiler casings (Figure 7.1), submarine bulkheads, ship and barge hulls, ducts (Figure 7.2), aircraft components, and machine parts are designed in accordance with the general bending theory of plates. In this chapter, the pertinent equations of the bending theory of plates are developed, and examples are solved to demonstrate ...

The Vibration of Rectangular Plates

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1954
In this paper are considered the free transverse vibrations of rectangular plates with all possible boundary conditions obtained by combining free, freely-supported, and fixed edges. The Rayleigh method, assuming waveforms similar to those of beams, is used to derive a simple approximate frequency expression for all modes of vibration.

Rectangular Plate Examples

2009
We focus on special aspects of the theory of thin plates by discussing a state of constant bending curvature in Section 5.1 and a panel of constant torsion in Section 5.2. In Section 5.3 we show the effectiveness of a square simplysupported plate subject to a distributed load. In Section 5.4 we discuss the special case of a twist-less plate.

Buckling of Rectangular Plates

2017
The stability of rectangular plates with induced in-plane compressive stresses resulting from the mechanical or thermal loads is discussed in this chapter. The kinematical relations, constitutive law, the equilibrium equations, and the stability equations for a rectangular plate are derived and the classical boundary conditions are presented.
