An exact three dimensional solution for bending of thick rectangular FGM plate
Composites Part B: Engineering, 2019This study uses the displacement potential function, DPF, to present an exact solution for bending of functionally graded, FGM, thick plates. The plates are simply-supported rectangular, isotropic, and nonhomogeneous, with exponential variation of Young ...

Study on thermal management of rectangular Li-ion battery with serpentine-channel cold plate
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2018In order to investigate a simple and efficient liquid cooling method for the rectangular Li-ion power batteries used in electric vehicles, the cold plate with serpentine-channel configuration shaped like U-tube is established. Subsequently, the effect of

Vibrations of Free Rectangular Plates
Proceedings of the Physical Society. Section B, 1949Records theta are given of the normal vibrating modes and frequencies of free rectangular plates between the limiting shapes of the bar and the square. The nodal systems, which in general consist of straight lines parallel to the sides, are, from considerations of symmetry, divided into four classes.

On the Torsion of Rectangular Sandwich Plates
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1956Abstract The torsional rigidity of rectangular sandwich plates of constant thickness is calculated, with cross sections assumed free to warp. The faces are isotropic and of equal thickness while the core may be orthotropic, the axes of orthotropy coinciding with co-ordinate axes of the structure.

Hydroelastic Vibration of Rectangular Plates
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1996This paper is concerned with the virtual mass effect on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of rectangular plates due to the presence of the water on one side of the plate. The approximate formula, which mainly depends on the so-called nondimensionalized added virtual mass incremental factor, can be used to estimate natural frequencies in water ...

On Vibrations of Pretwisted Rectangular Plates
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1962This paper contains an analysis of the free vibrations of uniformly pretwisted rectangular plates, utilizing the exact equations of classical shallow-shell theory. Specifically, solutions are given (a) for two opposite edges simply supported and the other two free, and (b) for all four edges simply supported. Numerical results obtained for case (b) are

A uniform rectangular plate is arranged so that it oscillates in its own plane around either one of two axes, one at the center of each edge. The analysis shows that there is a particular ratio of the lengths of the two sides (in addition to unity) for which the two periods are equal, and still another ratio giving the minimum period.

Abstract An upper bound solution is constructed for determining the material flow and die pressure developed during forging of a rectangular plate between two flat dies. It is taken that the dies completely cover the specimen. During compression of such specimen both the bulging of lateral sides and barrelling along the thickness of the specimen take

Autorotation of rectangular plates
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1990A series of tests have been conducted on the autorotation of plates of rectangular section and thickness to chord ratios of from 0.1 to 1.0. The major difference from previous work was that the plates spanned the full width of the wind tunnel, i.e. the flow was essentially two-dimensional. The results show major differences from predictions of infinite
