Dynamic and Sound Radiation Characteristics of Rectangular Thin Plates with General Boundary Conditions

open access: yesCurved and Layered Structures, 2019
Based on the classical Kirchhoff hypothesis, the dynamic response and sound radiation of rectangular thin plates with general boundary conditions are studied.

Buckling of Composite Structures with Delaminations—Laminates and Functionally Graded Materials

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In the present paper, buckling problems of constructions with single delamination are examined. Structures were made of unidirectional laminates and functionally graded materials (FGM).

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Vibration Analysis of Rectangular Plates with Free Corners Using Spline-Based Differential Quadrature

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2004
A spline-based differential quadrature method (SDQM) is elaborated and applied to the vibration analysis of rectangular plates with free edges. The sextic B-spline functions are used to construct the pertaining cardinal spline interpolants.

Hydromagnetic Squeeze Films between Porous Rectangular Plates with Couplestress Fluids

open access: yesTribology Online, 2012
The theoretical investigation made in this paper is to study the effect of transverse magnetic field on the performance characteristics of porous squeeze film lubrication between two rectangular plates with couplestress fluids.

Consideration of the restriction of lateral contraction in the elastic behaviour of cohesive zone models

open access: yes, 2015
Cohesive zone models do not consider the lateral contraction of adhesive layers under tensile loads. The constraint of the lateral contraction by the adherents which depends on the geometry of the adhesive layer has a major influence on the normal ...

Understanding the Stochastic Nature of Process Parameter Development of Blown Powder Laser Beam Directed Energy Deposition Additive Manufacturing of Pure Molybdenum

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

Solving the Boltzmann equation deterministically by the fast spectral method : application to gas microflows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Based on the fast spectral approximation to the Boltzmann collision operator, we present an accurate and efficient deterministic numerical method for solving the Boltzmann equation.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Numerical simulation of vortex-induced drag of elastic swimmer models

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2017
We present numerical simulations of simplified models for swimming organisms or robots, using chordwise flexible elastic plates. We focus on the tip vortices originating from three-dimensional effects due to the finite span of the plate.
