Winter-active spiders (Clubiona) have a hyperactive antifreeze protein with a unique beta-solenoid fold. [PDF]
Antifreeze proteins from winter‐active spiders were purified using their affinity for ice. After LC–MSMS characterization, corresponding transcripts were identified. The antifreeze protein folds as a β‐solenoid with a large flat ice‐binding site on one surface and can bind to ice crystals and prevent their growth at −4 °C.

Calculation of radial magnetic fields for axisymmetric solenoids with rectangular cross section [PDF]
The ratio of maximum radial field to maximum axial field has been calculated numerically for axisymmetric solenoids of rectangular cross section and constant current density over a wide range of coil configurations. It is also shown that for a certain range of coil shapes the maximum modulus of the magnetic field occurs on the end faces of the windings.
