On a dispersion curve of a waveguide filled with inhomogeneous substance

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Models and Applied Computational Science, 2022
The paper discusses the relationship between the modes traveling along the axis of the waveguide and the standing modes of a cylindrical resonator, and shows how this relationship can be explored using the Sage computer algebra system.

Computation of the Modes of Elliptic Waveguides with a Curvilinear 2D Frequency-Domain Finite-Difference Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A scalar Frequency-Domain Finite-Difference approach to the mode computation of elliptic waveguides is presented. The use of an elliptic cylindrical grid allows us to take exactly into account the curved boundary of the structure and a single mesh has ...

A new rectangular waveguide to coplanar waveguide transition [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International Digest on Microwave Symposium, 2002
A novel rectangular-waveguide-to-coplanar-waveguide transition is described. The transition uses a ridge in one of the broad walls of the waveguide and a nonradiating slot in the opposite wall to split and rotate the electromagnetic fields of the rectangular waveguide TE/sub 10/ mode into the coplanar waveguide (CPW) fields.

Hybrid Nanowire–Rectangular Plasmonic Waveguide for Subwavelength Confinement at 1550 Nm

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
This paper presents a hybrid waveguide based on metal surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) at 1550 nm comprising two silver (Ag) nanowires and a rectangular silicon (Si) waveguide. Due to the strong coupling effect observed in both the metal SPP mode and Si

Low loss, high contrast optical waveguides based on CMOS compatible LPCVD processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A new class of integrated optical waveguide structures is presented, based on low cost CMOS compatible LPCVD processing. This technology allows for medium and high index contrast waveguides with very low channel attenuation.

Critical components in 0.14 THz communication systems

open access: yes, 2012
In the super-heterodyne terahertz communication system, the proper design of the critical components like mixers and filters are of great importance for enhancing its performance. In this work, some issues on our newly developed system setup design for 0.

Multimode synthesis procedure for microwave filters based on thick inductive windows [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
For several types of microwave filters for space application it is important to manufacture hardware without tuning elements. For this to be possible, one needs a systematic procedure to codvert ideal elements, such as resonators and impedance inverters,

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.
